Yep, it was JG's sister, that's how I remember it was Deb's at that time. He would go over there and eat most of the time he said.cbolt wrote:Seems like that place has had many names over the years.Pretty sure that was JG'S sister that owned it during Debs.

Yep, I remember JG calling me to go on Larry's mail route with him. Ole JG had me nervous flying in the van to those drop off places. Big bags of mail. One drop off was in Laurelville. He had me shook. Gotta be on time he kept saying. I didn't go again.cbolt wrote:She married a Wagner,Larry I think

80 mph plus in places, and not much of a slow down for the curves in one of those older cargo vans. Thought I was going to need poopy paper by the time we got done.

Didn't he drive like that everywhere? Thought I remember people saying he ran the heck out of that thunderbird and I remember you said he had that mustang opened up a lot.He should have had the nickname flying j.

Re: Area Businesses of the Past...
Yep, pretty much, but that day he was trying to make time to get to those drop off places so the next guy picking it up didn't have to wait. I was thinking about all that could happen, specially someone pulling out of a driveway or meeting a car that was left of center around those curves head on. He knew I was nervous and said "we gotta make time man"..I told him start earlier next time, he gave me that tough guy look. I'm glad I didn't go again. "FLYING J" "THE FLYER" Both would work.

Did you have the feet working on your side brakes? I would do that but would never slow us down.

Sure did, it's a reaction. I was holding on too, hands sometimes on the dash and on the sides of the seat. I was ready to jump in the back of the van with the mail bags. I thought it would never end, his foot was real heavy that day. I about got sick from it, I was glad when he got done with the route.noreply66 wrote:Did you have the feet working on your side brakes? Been there, but just as a spectator, nice quarter mile race track. I'm nervous as well when someone is driving like he did that day. No sense in it, no way of relaxing, and anything can happen in a second.noreply66 wrote:ran a few times at the National Trails but could never get use to someone else driving.TRENCHFOOT wrote:Sure did, it's a reaction. I think the barber shop and paint store were beside each other. Shaw owned the building.TRENCHFOOT wrote:I think I remember the barber shop being down there.noreply66 wrote:The old paint store and barber shop on Mulberry between Main and Hunter.
