Miami Trace (12-2) @ Jackson (11-2)

Friday 01-23-26
Panthers travel to Jackson to face Ironman

Huge FAC matchup

Thoughts ???

I got Trace in a close one, maybe whoever has the ball last.

I agree, I feel this should be the makings of a great game. These 2 teams have had some excellent battles over the past few years.

Senior night for Jackson. Should be a great crowd.

Yes, this could be a classic. I've seen both teams 4 or 5 times. These teams are very different in their approach in my view, but their style of play fits their team's strengths. Foul trouble, off shooting night, could be impactful either way. I don't see how either team builds much of a lead. Likely a late 4th quarter decider.

I’m going to bring a Cardos pizza and sit right behind the Miami Trace bench and make sure that MT coach isn’t fully focused

Jackson is too balanced to get too far behind, but the Ironmen will probably need to shoot it especially well to get the W. How does Jackson neutralize/limit Guthrie? Might be the difference.

Can’t get an outside open look, getting some mid range but missing and nothing at the basket. We keep fouling Guthrie when it’s too late

Jackson appears to have left their zone offense/game plan somewhere in the parking lot…
I’m headed out to look for it real quick.

MT executing extremely well, and getting a lot of calls at the bucket, and taking full advantage of it.

Jackson has to drastically change its approach in 2nd half to have a chance.

Watched the game. Trace getting better at the right time. While MT's zone defense was a problem for Jackson, the Ironmen did get enough good looks in the first half to keep it closer, but shooting problems really hurt. Nobody should read too much into one game but the Panthers have created plenty of distance from the rest of the D-III contenders -- Jackson, Marietta and Chillicothe.
  • Miami Trace (12-2):
Don't expect another regular season loss for the Panthers but Chillicothe and Unioto could challenge.
  • Marietta (14-2):
Maybe one or two losses left on the schedule -- New Philadelphia and John Glenn.
  • Jackson (11-3):
The favorite in every game the rest of the season, except the Chillicothe game (Feb. 13) could be a toss-up.
  • Chillicothe (10-3):
Hard remaining schedule, with Trace, Jackson and Ironton the toughest and Courthouse and Wheelersburg with a shot and then two below .500 Columbus area teams that could give the Cavs a challenge. Watching Westerville South game today.

Fair write-up, except I could see Jackson losing once or twice yet. As for Marietta, they have been very good, but will have a hard time getting to 18 wins with its best player out for awhile and their 6th man, who plays lots of minutes, possibly out for another game or two. At full strength Marietta as strong as anyone in the region.
