Districts Boys Rio Grande

It appears according to SEODB.og that D2 advances 4 teams and D3 (8) teams split into (2) races. Is that correct that D2 has only (1) race and (4) teams advancing to regionals?

sounds familiar

girls D3 only had 1 team and 4 individuals 4 years ago...then had 2 years combined with East district

4 teams and 16 individuals total has been our best scenario in the last 6 years I believe

Two years ago the East District and the Southeast District boys tied with the number of full teams on the starting line at the district meet. Because of this tie, the SE District was given 8 regional qualifiers (four of whom went to Pickerington while the other four teams were sent to Troy) last year, but will only have four regional qualifiers this year. The East District had four regional qualifiers last year, but will have eight qualifiers this year. The SE teams will go to Troy while the eight teams from the East District will combine with the eight teams from the Central District to form the Pickerington Regional.

I hope this helps.

So SE Boys D2 go to Pickerington in D2 and SE Girls D2 to Troy in D2?

Last year (when the SE had 8 regional qualifiers) four of the boys teams were sent to Troy and 4 were sent to Pickerington. Last year the girls only had 4 regional qualifiers. All of them went to Troy. Some coaches had to miss their runners compete if their guys ran at Pickerington and their girls ran at Troy.

This year both the boys and the girls only get four regional qualifiers. All of these teams will be at Troy. No issue with coaches missing any competition at the DII level. Many of us just have a long, long drive to get to the regional meet.

Maybe this is a little clearer.

So if the d2 coaches do not want this to happen again there must be 5 on the line to start the district meet. Even if you ad is a pain they should be willing to help the school and the sport by adding a name to the rooster and letting them start the race to help the sport in the future.

wrcoach02,

That can't be right. Even though the OHSAA has yet to officially post their regional sites and the districts that feed into them, I have come to the conclusion the SE district site is wrong.

Here's why...

1)According to the SW district site, there are 3 district races, which means 12 regional qualifiers to Troy for both the boys and girls. This leaves 4 Troy qualifiers for each race from another district.

2)In theory, the East District (which has yet to post its teams' regional destination) could be sent either to Pickerington or Boardman for their regional meet. However, according to the NE district site there are five district meets, which will produce 20 regional qualifiers (16 to Boardman and 4 to Tiffin to combine with 12 from the NW). This eliminates the possibility of sending any East teams to Boardman, which leaves Pickerington as the only possible destination.

3)Finally, the Central District site has both of its district races (8 teams) being sent to Pickerington, so they are not being shipped anywhere.

This is just my deduction based on logic and what I have seen from other sites. However, I would not bet the farm on this, because the OHSAA is known to defy logic from time to time. Completely splitting a district the way it is currently posted is certainly the most illogical, irrational, and inconsiderate thing the state could do to our district (especially since we only have one race for each the boys and girls).

jumphigh is correct...we as coaches must get the word out this season to other SE coaches to put 5 on the line so we are not stuck with only one district race.

Am I reading this right? The state changed the representation after only one year of a two year cycle? Everything should be as it was last year. At least for one more year.

The reason the representation for the DII boys changes has to do with a tie in the numbers when they were last counted in 2008. The tie was with the East District. Due to this tie, in 2009 the SE was given 8 regional qualifiers and the East was given 4 regional qualifiers. Now in 2010, the number of qualifiers is reversed.

The district athletic board's site has been changed. Both girls and boys DII are going to Troy. Now everyone can enjoy the trip. :122245

Not if your boys and girls are in different divisions and you have one high school coach.
