Paterno announces retirement

JoePa has announced his retirement, effective end of the season.
I think JoePa should step down now. I'm a Penn State fan, but waiting until the end of the season, I think, is in poor taste. Even if he has not been implicated in the scandal, he has been and is the face of Penn State and should step aside now so the program can move on.
Additionally, a thorough investigation of the entire football coaching staff needs to be conducted to make sure no one else is or has been involved. If need be, Penn State needs to clean house in the football program.
I feel horrible for the kids and families who have been victimized. I also feel badly for the current Penn State football players who will bear unfair scrutiny in this matter.
Sad days in American sports. Penn State is one of the iconic programs.
