NEW YORK (AP) - Roddy White and four other Atlanta Falcons were fined by the NFL for violating uniform regulations with tributes to Michael Vick during last week's Monday night game.
Vick, Atlanta's suspended Pro Bowl quarterback, was sentenced to 23 months in prison on federal dogfighting charges the morning of Dec. 10. The Falcons played at home against New Orleans that night.
After scoring a touchdown, White displayed a "Free Mike Vick" T-shirt under his jersey.
He, along with tight end Alge Crumpler and cornerbacks DeAngelo Hall and Chris Houston, were fined $10,000 each. Crumpler, Hall and Houston all wore black eye strips with written tributes to Vick, which the league called "displaying an unauthorized personal message."
Wide receiver Joe Horn was fined $7,500 for pulling up White's jersey to show the black T-shirt with handwritten white lettering. The fines were confirmed Tuesday by NFL spokesman Randall Liu.
Hall also had a poster of Vick on the field during pre-game introductions.
The Falcons lost the game 34-14.

Tribute? A TRIBUTE?
They need to clean that bunch out...make some of them get hair cuts too. Walking around looking like that monster in that Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Predator. Wonder how Jack Lambert would have reacted to it?

they're his friends as well as team mates. i know if one of my friends was convicted of something so miniscule i'd support them too.
and what on earth does it hurt for these guys to have their hair that way?

I'm with you on this as well.We are all human and make mistakes.I do not condone anything Vick has done.It was very wrong.I have owned dogs all my life,2 right now.
If my best friend were in trouble I wouldnt turn my back on him in his hour of need.
I also see no point about the hair comment.

I think they should not be allowed to play in the game with uniforms or items that are against NFL policy.
If the pull up a shirt showing something underneath it that is not allowed, then throw them out of the game.
They should be fined more heavily too.

Lambert would have drug him done the field by that hair. Like Madden says you can grab the hair its part of the uniform when it sticks out like that.

What the hell does a guys hair have to do with how he plays the game??
I also don't see anything worng with these guys sticking up for their friend. What he did was wrong, but a true friend doesn't abandon you in your time of need. I'm sure you guys would do the same thing for one of your buddies in the same situation, and if you say you wouldn't, then I sure as hell wouldn't want you as my friend.

yes, we understand some guys have dreadlocks sticking out from under their helmet, we're not blind. but that doesnt answer the question as to what the big deal is.
