When I pray I like to picture Jesus in a tuxedo T-Shirt because it says I want to be formal, but I'm here to party. Sometimes I like to think of Jesus like with giant eagles wings, and singin' lead vocals for Lynyrd Skynyrd with like an angel band and I'm in the front row and I'm hammered drunk!

i think the merry christmas thing has gotten way out of hand. there is nothing wrong with merry christmas or happy holidays. i thought merry christmas was pertaining to one day which would be christmas whereas i always took happy holidays to mean christmas and new year but i guess happy holidays have taken on a new meaning to cover all of the religous holidays. just my opinion but i think christmas taken on a new meaning because it just seems to about presents and time off for alot of people. even people who profess to be christians. was christmas always known as a time of gift giving even back after jesus was born. im just asking. it just seems like it has become so commercialized.

Atheists get upset when the government expresses religion. Like for example, when a government building puts up a plastic virgin Mary holding the baby Jesus. Why would a government even think about putting this up when there are other citizens whom differently?

The answer is they should not, because people can perfectly celebrate their own personal religious holidays. Religion is expressed in an individuals soul and consciousness, not in some plastic representation of the divine.

atheists have a right to do whatever in the world they want.

but you cant deny that we have many Christian traditions in this country. Christmas is 1 American tradition.

Since I was a kid, way back in the fifties, Christmas was about giving-----rather the joy of giving. Santa Claus and the whole myth, ideal, and tradition was that Santa believed that all kids were bigger than he and that he gave because he enjoyed seeing smiling faces. It was also about Jesus who was "born" on Christmas and what he gave for all of us.

We were poor dairy farmers. We gardened and butchered so that we could put food away for the winter months. From the time I was 6 all I wanted was a bicycle, but we never had the money-----until I was 12. My dad had found an old beatup clunker of a bike. He and my mom and grandparents sanded it, painted it, and polished it. The rear tire was a big wide white sidewall. The front tire was a new blackwall. It did not match. But to me it was the most beautiful bike I had ever seen. They sacrificed and put in some extra, extra time so that I would have a big smile on my face-----I am smiling now remembering that bike.

Some say Christmas is a Christian holiday. Since true biblical teachings are about giving and sacrificing, about forgiving and loving one's fellow man, and about believing in something that is bigger than all of us combined I think Christmas is a day about humans taking a day to be accepting of others. That acceptance is greater than any gift that can be purchased. Is this just a Christian teaching or do others teach this same concept. Whatever, I ask all agnostics and atheists what is wrong with such a concept.

and Jesus should be celebrated as an historical figure. not strictly a religious one.

Jesus' birth life and death should be celebrated everyday just not when Man says it should be on a calendar.

Christmas is a great time of year but His death and resurrection is really what it is all about :!: ;-) That fact that he died for us is the most important thing of all :!: That is what sets Christianity apart from all religions :!:
