Hannan Trace was always known primarily as a basketball school. They have had some really good players,
some really good teams, and some very good coaches. 1991 Hannan Trace team was a regional team. They eventually were beaten by Cincinnati Lockland. Southern won the SVAC that season but were knocked out by this team in the district finals by a last second shot by JJ Bevan.

91 was a good year for HTHS basketball, I believe they swept the Jackson Ironmen in both JV and varsity and played a talented Fairland team down to the wire. JV also won the SVAC title, a first for a HT JV team If I remember correctly. THe great run through the tournament was one of Gallia Counties best.

You are correct. Jackson was SEOAL co-champs that year I believe. Hannan Trace won the league in JV and were a reginal team that same year. Good year for the school.

I believe that Hannah Trace team was coached by the guy who nearly took the Jackson job before he made it to Hannah Trace.....but was called too late to mess with.

I remember the names and shooting games of Brace and Swain.

Did Chad Barnes play a year or two at Hannah Trace?

Chad did play one year for Hannan Trace in 1991. He had some pretty good minutes during that tourney run. He was the best and the toughest athlete I have ever been around. I remember him taking a beating in football because lack of an offensive line. I had to relay the plays to the team because he couldn't even talk because he was getting his wind back in his system. He never showed the opposing team that he was hurt.

Hannan Trace would've been loaded in all sports if the consolidation never happened. They juiced up every team in the area!!!!

Fairland-Mike Black, Paul Dillon
River Valley-Mike Cook, Dave Rucker, Jamie Merrick, Bill Mullins
Gallia Academy-Nate Swindler, Chad Barnes, Ryan Barnes, Brett Cremeens, Heath Hutchinson, Greg Lloyd
Symmes Valley-Brad Jenkins, Ricky Dillon
If I left you out I am sorry....

I think Rucker went to RV first and then he transferred to Gallia Academy!!!

Rucker and Lloyd both left RV during their sophomore year.

I think when you look back at the talent that would have gone through HT during the time period between the closing of HT and the opening of SG it is amazing. HT would have been real tough in all sports from 92-95. I think about what Mike Jenkins could have done with that would have been interesting.

You left out a close friend of yours that played a lot of basketball at RV. Also Coach Saunders son, Brad, that played at SV.
