Winningest program in the Southeast District

Being a numbers geek like I am, I want to compile a list of how many wins each southeast district program has had over the last decade. I'm looking for total # of wins since the 2001 season. Please keep this to numbers only. I'm not looking for a debate over who is the best team. I'm simply looking for the team with the most wins.

So far the list is:

Chesapeake --186
Wheelersburg--185
North Adams --167
Vinton County--160
Chillicothe --134
Huntington --134
Zane Trace --132
Eastern Pike --119
Piketon --118
Oak Hill --115
Western --101
Portsmouth --98

CoyDuke: I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I would say that Wheelersburg, Greenfield McClain, and Chesapeake have been the 3 winningest programs in the SE District since 2001.

I do have Portsmouth's records since 2001:

2001: 19-5
2002: 15-8
2003: 8-13
2004: 9-14
2005: 6-15
2006: 6-16
2007: 4-18
2008: 9-12
2009: 10-12
2010: 12-7

Western

2001 3-18
2002 3-19
2003 7-14
2004 8-14

2009 16-6
2010 5-17

Total Record 101 - 119

Not the best record for the entire decade, but respectable. 4 year stretch from the 05-06 season to the 08-09 season are is as good of a four year stretch as anyone, 70-21 over that stretch.

How about South Webster? They should be over 100 wins with the bulk coming from 04-05 to 06-07. And last year had around 15?

Not sure on all this, can someone confirm?

I don't have the numbers in front of me, but I would say that Wheelersburg, Greenfield McClain, and Chesapeake have been the 3 winningest programs in the SE District since 2001.
I think you're right on Peake and Burg, but I'm not so sure on McClain. Other than the "Dante" years I think they were just OK. I would say Logan Elm would have to be high on this list also.

CoyDuke: Greenfield McClain has had 1 losing season in the last 28 years......1988........and they were very good before Dante Jackson (2004-2007) and have continued to win after he graduated......Coach Rick Van Matre, while at McClain for 28 years (1982-2009), compiled a record of 472-169, and last year, under first year Coach Brent Eaton, the Tigers continued their winning ways by posting about 14 wins.

I don't think any program in the SE District can put up better numbers than McClain over that period of time, although as I stated earlier, Chesapeake and Wheelersburg are right there with McClain for the best overall record.

Logan Elm has had a very good 5-6 year run, but I am curious as to see exactly what their records were before 2004.......since that year, LE has been one of the top 2 D2 programs in the SE District along with Chillicothe. I don't think their records before 2004 were anything special.

What about Ironton?

JimmytheGreek: Ironton has had a very good run the last 7-8 years and probably would be listed among the top teams in the decade.......they had a stretch of some losing years until 2003......things turned around when Brigham Waginger and Dennis Gagai started on varsity as freshmen that year.......under Coach Roger Zornes and then IHS has continued that momentum with Coach Mark Lafon.......and for the next 3 years Ironton will be major force in SE D3 basketball.

I wasn't trying to say McClain is not a good program. Obviously they are. I'm simply saying that to have the wins that say Logan Elm and Vinton County have in Division 2, or Burg, Peake, or North Adams do in Division 3, you really can't have too many years below 16 or 17 wins. Last year McClain won 12, and the year before that 13 or 14. I do think they will be in the top 7 or 8 teams on this list.
