South Webster vs Notre Dame----Wednesday, March 2nd 8:00 at Valley High School

South Webster 15-4, 10-4 in SOC2 begin their March march with the Titans. Hopefully, this thread will contain multiple games vs multiple opponents!

The strengths of the Jeeps:

1) Great Team Chemistry between each other and coaching staff
2) Good Scoring Duo in Scott and Loop
3) Very well Coached
4) Players understand their roles and play hard
5) Good Defensive Team
6) Played Toughest Schedule of any Division 4 team in SE Ohio

Go Jeeps!

Who is going to step up when either Scott or Loop gets in foul trouble and/or is having an off-night? That is the biggest question for this team and could be the difference between a good season (Districts), and a great season (Regionals/State). Miller seems to be scoring more of late, and I still believe Sutton is capable of a big game when needed. Good luck Jeeps!*

Miller, Malone, and Goddard come into the mix when the foul trouble happens, as seldom as it is.

The Jeeps could make it to the regionals but
I don't think they will make it to the final 4.

I see SW coming out on top in this match, but Clay played them to a 3 OT game, and ND led Clay until the final 20 seconds of their game, losing by 1 point. So this game could be closer than some would have expected a month ago. ND has improved a lot from earlier in the season. I'll still have to say SW by at least 8 points.

Rocky: I don't think you can use the transitive property on this one. I grant you that Clay played us to a 3ot game, but that was the night after we beat Burg at home by 10 and I believe you guys took your best shot at us. I think we have improved from earlier in the season as well.

Then again, I don't really care if we win by 1 point as long as we win!

I believe our Defense is the key. If we defend like we did at Waverly or at home vs Burg, then we will be more than fine. If we defend in a disinterested way----such as the Clay game, then it will be a bumpy road. We tend to play to the level of our opponent as we have only had 2 or 3 blowouts the whole season. We were tied with Notre Dame in the 3rd quarter earlier in the season before pulling away to a 22 point win.

I'll take the Jeeps by 30+ our guys played Notre Dame in a time when we couldn't play but a game a week and couldn't gel yet. This time they are better and ready to prove they should have been the #1 seed.

My point was actually that ND has improved over the year and might stay closer than the aforementinoed 30 points. At least we haven't had the "as many as they want" post yet.

Ole Swanker having some fun........

Rocky: I don't look for it to be a 30 point game either----we have only beaten one team by 30 or more this year. Notre Dame will probably hang around for a while.

I do believe this first game is decided by us though. Our attitude and intensity will dictate. If we are ready to play and go in sharp, then everything will be just fine.

I saw an "as many as they want" post on another thread and the team won by 2 points. I guess that was all the "wanted" to win by. Of course, it only takes 1 point to advance.

I saw that and I agreed with you as I read that thread. After witnessing SPHS almost knock off the Trojans last night, I am very aware that Notre Dame could beat our Jeeps Wednesday night. As long as we have one more point than the Titans, then we get to move on! Portsmouth is very capable of advancing to the Final 4 and they only won their Sectional game by 1 point. Crazy things happen in the tournament.

Seniors have to be able to play with courage and fire while being relaxed and playing in the flow. I wish yours good luck and will be rooting for the SOC1 on Tuesday night. Both Clay and Green are capable of advancing to the Convo and will not have to pull out a miracle to do it. I am hoping our friends from Notre Dame have no miracles with them on Wednesday!

When was the last time SW played? These long layoffs for the DIV schools seems kinda crazy. The kids have been used to playing twice a week all season and now a 10+ day layoff could make them a little rusty. At the same time, a team with an injury or two can heal up in the down time.

Bad News: We have been off since last Friday the 18th. 12 days between games for us.

Good News: Sectional is Wednesday, March 2nd and then Districts are Tuesday, March 8th---so only 6 days between Sectional and District. Usually that is where the big layoff looms.

I figure we might be a little rusty in the early going. We have not played great in the first half this year anyway to be honest.

I just want the guys to play to their full potential. If they do and lose - no matter who they lose to - then I can accept that.

I have a sneaking suspicion they have yet to play their best basketball!

According to this new calendar which was released on 2/27----the Jeeps District has been moved.

IF we beat Notre Dame on March 2nd----then we do not play until Thursday, March 10th and then the District Final is at 10:30am on Saturday, March 12th.

If the Titans upset us on Wednesday Night, then this would pertain to them! This also affects the Clay/Fairfield winner as they are in the same district as us.

There have been numerous changes to the District and Regional at the Convo---hopefully this is the last.
