What a great team effort by team Defiance.
On paper some would say what a total mismatch, but team Defiance would hear nothing of it as they played as one and won a state title.
Central, who is a very, very good team, seem to lose their confidence in the fourth quarter and then in overtime they looked lost at times.
Congrats to Defiance on a tremendous season.

I hate that technical call at all points and even more when it was called. Whatever though, glad to see Defiance get the win.

Not only did he hang on the rim, he did that little chin up too. Great call.

Not sure how many kids have the body control to not wipe out after dunking that ball with how he was moving to the basket. That's why you hang on it for longer than normal. I'd rather a kid hang like he did than let go and get hurt.

The body swing to balance himself back out I can live with, but the chin was up over the top esp.for high school, good call

It was definitely the right call when he went for the chin up. Before you could give a little leeway with a player close to him on the floor, but the chin up made it a sure call, even in that situation.

How could a ref not make that call. I feel sorry for his team mates who played so hard just to lose it because of LOOK AT ME I am special no your not special you just cost your team a state championship.

Head coach of Defiance is former OU point guard Kirk Lehman. His team plays like he used to in the Convo: with DEFIANCE.

For anyone who says "bad call," you clearly don't understand the rule. You can argue bad rule in general, but it was absolutely the right call.

No doubt, the right call.
Everyone in the building had to know it was coming when it happened.

Live it was hard to tell but espn has a link to the replay and he hung on it swinging his feet in ntil they almost touched the support standard! No one was under him, he probably watched hundreds of nba and ncaa replays of players doing this with no repercussions. However he isnt at that level and deserved the technical.

I really became a fan of this Defiance ball club on Saturday, team play with gritty effort all the time. They just out-will you to victory.

Here is the dunk, there is no way that is a T. The rule states you can grab rim for safety. To me that's a normal dunk. I was at the game and had zero thought the ref would call a T

As of this morning, 71% of the votes on ESPN.com said it was a bad call.
Talked to a college coach this morning, said it was a bad call. I have talked to 3 different current HS coaches, all have said its a bad call.
The game has changed. Better athletes, bigger, faster, stronger. Rules needs to evolve along with the game.

I went to Columbus a couple years back to watch a friend play in an AAU tournament and the team they played that day was none other than Defiance. So Defiance also has an AAU team. Not that it is anywhere near as large an area to recruit from as Cleveland. I was also in Defiance this past year to watch Ironton play in an all star tournament being held in Bryan, so I also know the size of that area. Beautiful country up there. The only thing I didn't like was all the Michigan gear they had for sale. Someone needs to remind them they are in OHIO!
