2019-20 and 2020-21 OHSAA Member School Proposed Enrollments were posted by OHSAA on Tuesday, February 19, 2019.

Below are some Southeast District Schools (Boys) that I think could possibly change divisions for 2019-2021 (without knowing CB additions).
  • New Lexington D2→D3 204(-27)
    River Valley D2→D3 204(-3)
    Zane Trace D2→D3 181(-45)
    Westfall D2→D3 180(-31)

    Crooksville D3→D4 125(-9)
    Huntington D3→D4 122(-7)
    Paint Valley D3→D4 119(-12)
    Valley D3→D4 116(-14)
    Eastern Pike D3→D4 113(-11)

    Coal Grove D4→D3 127(+12)

Until they put a 5th division in HS basketball it won’t matter for most schools. I hate saying that but too many schools in the middle of all of this , the D-2 and D-1 schools in the area will always struggle to get out of the regionals or even the districts

I had thought that Zane Trace’s junior class would have kept them at D2 for this next couple of years.

They return all 5 starters from a 20 win team next year, so have fun with that if they do move back to D3 lol

D2 is a better route than D3 if you're looking for a Regional Championship, though.

D2 faces the 2 East District winners, which are still very solid teams don't get me wrong.. but I think most teams would rather face them than the Harvest Prep/Africentric/Wellington/Worthington Christian's of the world that they would face in the D3 Regional.

However, don't get me wrong, with what Zane Trace returns they absolutely would have a legitimate shot against any of the above teams listed.

You’re absolutely correct on the regional championship route.

If Garaway pushed Harvest Prep last year to the edge in D3 then whichever D2 team that gets out could compete with The Central District Champs in D3.

Word is South Webster will be going to D3 next year. I haven't checked for myself but from a reliable person.

South Webster 101(-2) unless they have a 20+ CB addition, I don't see it happening. Their CB # last year was +7.

I just looked and it does not appear to be the case to me. Hope we stay D4. Not sure though, the numbers seem to be from an old count.

Exactly...SW girls went D3 this year, but the boys' new number is at 101. Unless a huge competitive balance number, don't see Webster getting pushed up to D3.

As for the D3 schools you mentioned possibly schools dropping to D4, sectionals just got a lot tougher in D4.*

Chillicothe 375 (-12). Their CB # last year was +42. Last years D1→D2 # was 362. I say they stay D1.

While I think the implementation of the Competetive Balance is headed in the right direction, I think that it needs a tweek. There are schools with CB #'s of 100+ That is 20 player (+5max each = 100) that live out of district.

Some examples:
  • Archbishop Moeller +194
    Akron SVSM +124
    Harvest Prep +110

I think after a certain amount there needs to be an additional multiplier. first 5 players at the current CB addition (+1 or +5), next 5 are 2x, next 5 3x, etc

... thought they would close to having a chance at a Convo visit next year ... looks like the OCC/Central District Party is where they will be invited once again ...

There is a zero % chance South Webster will bump to D3 next year. Won't even be close. Enrollment # + CB will actually be lower next year than it was this year.

Girls will also be moving back to D4 pretty comfortably.

If Valley comes to D4, then we will all be seeing a new powerhouse in SE Ohio D4 with what they coming through the ranks the next 4-5 years.

Western Pike base enrollment is 119.. good chance they drop back to D4 as well.

Looks to be an abundance of teams moving to D4 next year, assuming CB additions aren't drastic.
