There is ya Some more great bumper music ideas
for the SportsZone think tank.
But it would really do my old hart some good to hear the
Game of a Thrones theme used just one time to bump the
Volleyball segment of the podcast.

The SVCSPORTSZONE banner report Idea is worthy of one more bumper request isn't it?

Very proud right now

Congrats to the U on an out right championship!! Well deserved! I know there's some games to play but this week is just a victory tour! Trust me...they won't be losing the next two.

The Adena vs Westfall match up thisThursday will be a dandy and will be good prep for the tourney.... and quite possibly a preview for a Regional Final!

Good luck to all of the SVC in the tournament. ..the "second seaaon" is about to begin.

It was a lot of fun recording our 100th show tonight for SVC Sports Talk. The show includes a cameo from Eric Snyder as we talk about second guessing coaches, an amazing volleyball week, a golden football question, and a two-minute drill about CC, golf, and basketball.

but any-who nice recovery this week.

Also this show has references to:

Games for October 7th 2014

Unioto over PV in 3
7-7-15
***No SVC banner report from the Jigger,
The X figured Warningtrackpower
already had those integers entered in the data base.

Adena over ZT in 4
25-13, 25-19, 22-25, 25-18

Westfall over HHS in 4
25-22, 25-21, 19-25, 25-15

Piketon over SE in 5
24-25, 25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 15-13

In honor of the Lady Sherman's 2014 SVC Title
And with regards to Paul Harvey..........

Somewhere between the 10 to 28th day
God looked down on his Frenchtown paradise and said,
“I need a volleyball player!”. So, God made a Lady Sherman!

God said I need somebody
to get up before dawn on the weekend
To Ride 4 hours,
Play all day in smelly gyms,
Just to
Ride 4 hours back home again,
eat supper out of sack
then stay up past midnight
making sure all school assignments are completed tasks.
So, God made a Lady Sherman!

I need somebody with strong arms.
Strong enough to rustle a calf, or spike the ball
yet gentle hands enough to play a baby grand or set the ball
Somebody tough enough to cut fire logs or dig hard hit balls
So, God made a Lady Sherman!

God said “I need somebody that can hit the 10', cut or go line,
close the block, tool the block And tip.
At the net somebody able to pull out the occasional errant pass,
Defensive rolls, pass, Pancakes, chicken wings, shots to the face
Spots, floaties , jumps serves
what ever it takes to get an Ace
And on the miss played ball be able to raise their hand and say
""My bad coach, will get the next one""
and five teammates right there patting her on the back
Saying ""that's right we will get the next one""
So, God made a Lady Sherman!

God had to have somebody willing to saddle wild Mustangs,
Trap feral Bearcats and Panthers,
Capture lighting in a bottle,
Out scout the best Huntsmen or Pioneer
And face down an entire Warrior Nation with out blinking an eye
So, God made a Lady Sherman!

God said, “I need somebody strong to do summer camp in a sauna,
Play in Thunderdomes, Jiggers, Ovens, Pits, Wig Wams and Meat Lockers too"
So, God made a Lady Sherman!

It had to be somebody who’d serve deep and straight…
and not go long or miss the corner
Somebody to see the seam
and use the dump on the opposing team
Somebody to win Tournaments and League Titles too
Adding digits to banners that hang by the Red, White and Blue

God needed
Somebody positive to look up to,
So When that white pleated ball rolls up-
At the beach,
In a gym,
At recess,
At family reunions
Or
At Picnics in the park
-To The little girl that picks it up for the 1st time
and with a smile and gleaming stars in her eyes
Says "I'm gonna play like the Unioto girls someday mom and dad"
So god made a Lady Sherman!

Good Day

Thanks Ron,
Paul Harvey is one of the X's all time favorites

As the sun prepares to set upon another SVC season.
We settle in for the last night of games in the chase for the SVC's Iron Throne

Paint Valley will be at Huntington with the game being the only game of the night not having a bearing on the final SVC standings. Huntington at 7-6 is a lock for the fourth position win or lose while Paint Valley (0-13) is 3 games back of 7th place.

Zane Trace at Piketon will decide 7th and 6th place in the final league standings both teams are tied with 3-10 records going into the last league match of the season.

Adena travels to Westfall in a match-up of 11-2 squads.
The winner will secure a second place finish in the SVC with still a mathematical shot of getting a share of the title. To the loser will go the distinction of being the best team to ever finish 3rd in the SVC.

And in the main event
Southeastern heads north west to face Unioto.
Unioto at 12-1 already has a share of the SVC title and a win will give the lady tanks their first out right championship since the 1988 season. Setting at 5-8 the only thing the Panthers have to gain from a victory is bragging rights in knocking the rival Tanks out of an undisputed title.

The Sherman's have plenty going on,
1st a match for the out right SVC title
2nd it's volley for a cure night
3rd Thursday will be the night the U honors the seniors of 2015
Plus it is homecoming weekend @ the Union Scioto School district.

X, a marvelous duty on the coverage this season with much flair in your writing skill set :) I will however challenge the greatest season ever in the SVC as i am somewhat of a history buff and if you check the archives and seek out the 1999 season it will show a three way tie for first place between these same three programs. The " U " had POY i think in Nici Workman and a great setter in Bethany Dix and Pam Doughty was coach. Westfall was led by Tara Wright, Susan Nowak and a speedy back row player in Meliah Thornton and coached by then Lori Merriman. Adena under Coach Smith had a talent laden squad too with Jessica Mayer and Sarah Wayland. I went to several games and all were very intense. I might be a little biased toward this year as i was fortunate to get most of these kids on my club team as we tromped through that club season finishing 3rd in Gold at the OVR's regional. This is still one of the best season's ever in the SVC and i will be out to watch your Sherman's soon my friend. Stay tuned for more history!

As I make my last post as HHSSOFTBALL, it is certainly a bittersweet time! Tonight culminates the argument, at least for the regular season, in my household of softball or volleyball! It is with great joy and equally great sadness that I reflect on the class that is the CLASS OF 2015! If you would indulge me for a moment and allow me to reflect on my experiences over the last several years.

I remember 8 years ago as I stood in the lobby outside of the great blue wigwam, trying to sneak a peek through the windows, awaiting tryouts to be over, hoping that my daughter was good enough to make a team. I thought that every other parent in the lobby knew more about the system than I did, but come to find out, they were in the same boat I was. My daughter did make a team, well, not just a team, but what would become the team. With names like Neff, Hutton, Dresbach, Dawson, Chaffin, and of course my daughter, Lytle (she did play the front row then...LOL). That is where it all began and oh how far we have came. Through it all she would also have the privilege of being teammates with several of the elite players of the CLASS OF 2015. Today, I find myself marvelling at this magnificent class. Not just their athletic abilities, their achievements, there continuall drive and ability to compete, but more than anything, the young ladies that they have matured into! If an outsider were to watch this class compete against one another, they would swear they were bitter enemies. The remarkable thing is, when the game is over, how they hug, interact, and enjoy the friendships they have developed with one another. I have had the awesome privilege of calling many of these families friends, and that I will cherish long after they graduate and move on. It has been a wonderful ride and I am thankful that my daughter has brought me along and allowed me to enjoy it with her!

Many may argue, but I believe when you look at the records, the accomplishments, and the overall success of this CLASS OF 2015, they may go down as the greatest class to ever grace the SVC volleyball courts. From Neff, Steinbrook, Overly X 2, Carr, Ward, and Nelson, to Bower, Hutton X 2, Dawson, Bakenhaster, and Jones, to Curry, Fuchs, Wallace, Arledge, and Williams, to Lytle, Ray, and Deal, to Goeble and Dresbach, to Flechner and Chaffin, to Countryman and Gale! The depth of talent, the inspired play, the record breaking performances, and the tournament success, not to mention at least 1 OVR Regional Championship, speaks wonders about their character and ability. These young ladies are not just great volleyball talents, but are even better people with great families supporting them along the way!

TO THE YOUNG LADIES IN THE CLASS OF 2015 AND ALL OF THEIR FAMILIES, I SAY THANK YOU FOR THE MEMORIES, THE FRIENDSHIPS, AND THE OPPORTUNITY TO SHARE IN THIS, THE GREATEST CLASS TO EVER PLAY VOLLEYBALL IN THE SCIOTO VALLEY CONFERENCE!

BTW... Thank you to the X, Ron, and Boo for all of the sharing you do on SEOPs and for your expert descriptions of the games, teams, and players! You have certainly added to this enjoyment and excitement! Now, lets go win a couple of state championships to truly culminate what has been a terrific 4 years!

The Iron Throne will be yours and you have much to be proud of! It's never an easy task winning a league championship let alone winning one in a league with two other very strong teams. A bittersweet sweet night being Senior night and their volleyball careers go by so quickly, but you have raised an awesome player and great kid and that will last forever!! Enjoy the moment and bring a lot Kleenex.

Another beautifully written post... and i couldn't agree with you more about the talent in the Class of 2015 in the SVC. Your daughter is an amazing player and is a great example to all young players that you don't have to be over 6 foot tall to take over a volleyball match! Whats even more amazing is volleyball isn't even her best sport! I'll miss watching her play, As i mentioned to X, enjoy the night and bring a lot of Kleenex....

Hhssoftball the X will miss your posting, you don't post often but when you do it's always spot on.
When you look up the word "competitor" in Webster's Dictionary a picture of your daughter should be there. She is a fabulous athlete but a better friend.
I remember those tryout days, checking the SOVC web site to see if the little x made the list. I remember having the talk with her about the possibilities of not making the roster, 40 plus girls was trying out for 18 positions and figuring Adena and Eastern Brown would take up around half those spots had us uncertain.
It was the first of many thrills this sport has given us the day her name was listed under the "contracts offered". "Contract Offered" it seemed so official, business like, and thus our journey into club ball began. Thanks for bringing up some good memories, it's always good to reflect on what has helped you get to where you are at today.

Boo:
The X is not a SVC historian, but merely a fan of SVC History.
So I will yield the floor to you, the Elder Statesman, on the matter of who is better.
However The X can share some Unioto history with you.
78 & 79 Championship Sherman squad was a very impressive team.
Lead by the powerful hitting and Hall Of Famer- Debbie Brumfield, Debbie's wing man on the weak side was Teresa White. Debbie is now an official and Teresa is the mother of the great Sherman setter, Jamie "White" Kelly. Mother-in-law of former Sherman volleyballer Abby "Hartsock" White and the aunt of several notable Sherman's:
Britney Neff, Lauren White, Kaytlin Jinks, Hallie White
And Current Sherman's Karee Neff Sr. And Tori Neff 8th grade.
It's safe to say good volleyball runs in that family.

The 88 squad was lead by such great Sherman names as: McClellan, Hill, Britton, Thornton, Anderson and Davis. The 88 squad is the only Sherman squad to make it to State, they also made it to State in Basketball that year.

Like wise the squad you speak of was impressive to watch as well.
I look forward to hear more of your accounts from that great era of SVC volleyball.

Ron:
Thanks for the kind words,
I made it through the night fairly easy,
a few moments pulled at the hart strings
but all in all it was a great Senior night and a great way
For the U's class of 2015 to finish their SVC career.

Will enjoy the night,
Tomorrow will start focusing on tournaments....
X

Wonder why the yearly stats reported on SVCSPORTSZONE.COM don't add up to the record-setting stats being reported this year? Are the previous years stats not complete or am I just bad at math?

Re: SVC 2014 : Game of Thrones Edition

Our volleyball coaches are probably the best at sending stats. Throughout the year, the stats are usually good; however, there have been some situations in many sports where we do not get the "final" update after postseason.

If you have a certain stat you are wondering about you can email the website at admin1@svcsportszone.com and I will try to look for the correct numbers. Thanks for checking out SVCsportszone.com

SVCSPORSTZONE.com has only mentioned a few career records in the game stats; those would be the ones I am talking about. Can't wait to see the coaches and SVCSPORTSZONE.com all league teams. Probably the same old "everyone deserves kid on the team" even though they couldn't make the top three teams' JV squad. Sorry if I offend anyone, but the best players should be recognized as such. Hopefully, this will be the year that this happens. Good luck to all SVC teams in the tournament and I expect 3 teams to be in the regionals!

All SVC team will be coming out soon, here's my picks. ...

Unioto: Overly, Overly, Neff, and Stienbrook
Adena: Hutton, Hutton, and Dawson
Westfall: Curry, Phillips, and Wallace
Huntington: Lytle, Magill, and Gragg
SE: Desbach and Goebel
ZT: Chaffin

POY: tough choice between Curry and Lexi Overly. But I will go with Overly since the U captured the title!

It's tournament time, good luck to all the teams and bring home some hardware!!
