First time I have even seen a team keep adding players mid season. I think Portsmouth have went from 6 to 5 and now have 8 players.

Re: Fairland @ Portsmouth who ya got???
Congratulations to the Lady Dragons on the win. They made the plays in clutch time, especially a couple of 3's. The Lady Trojans lost by 5, but missed at least a dozen FT''s......that's really where the game was decided. Both teams played good defense. It was not a masterpiece of execution offensively by both teams, but that happens so often in a big time game. FHS has now a big advantage in the OVC title chase, with the 2nd game being in Proctorville.
Going forward, the Lady Trojans have to do better at the charity stripe......big games are won many times at the FT line, and last night was an example of how a team can lose by not doing well on FT's.
Still feel very good about the Lady Trojans season...... no way I'm counting them out of a Final 4 run, but I can't emphasize this enough.......have to do better at the FT line, because they won't beat very good teams like Fairland. Chances are that these two teams could meet somewhere in the tournament. Last night had a regional final or state semifinal feel to it, with one of the largest crowds ever at Trojan Arena.

Outstanding crowd and atmosphere. Not the prettiest of games, but I'd put that on the high level defense being played by both sides.
Fairland made more plays throughout the game, especially down the stretch.
As trojandave said, the Trojans have to be better at the stripe, especially with their ability to draw contact.
Two very good teams and I'm glad that we were able to get down and see this one in person. The rematch should also be a dandy!

A little defensive for what? No one said anything about something illegal. I don't think there is any reason to start calling coach Hughes...... That kid has so much potential but if coach doesn’t get her under control it can be the downfall of the Trojans. They have potential to repeat as state champions but having that kind of attitude can ruin a team no matter how talented. I have been around the game all my life and it’s been years since I have seen a player act that way she is one of the leaders of the team and that just was not a good look. Woods is as fast as lightning and I feel like they went away from her driving to the rim her shot was off a little but getting to the foul line could have helped. I feel like they went away from Allen also. Should be a great game at Fairland and congrats to coach Buchanan.
I hate to admit this…..but you are right. I was also behind the bench and must say some of the stuff is unacceptable. Carter’s language and disrespect towards teammates and coaches is completely off the chart. Never seen a HS kid cuss like that. Most shockingly was how Coach Amy and her dad just accepted it. The fan next to me went on and on about how out of control it seemed. I wonder if you were that fan. Coach Amy told Carter to go to the locker room and not even shake hands after the game. Is she that out of control?? Maybe all the rumors of he fighting at Galli, scrimmages with police being called, throwing fist at Ironton maybe those are true.
After seeing the way
Mr. McCorkle got all worked up and postponed the game over students not sure had he control of himself either. He was red and shaking whatever he heard, I did not. I was a little too far away I guess butmust not have been that bad police didn’t escort anybody out but our school so petty. We made the 20 students that were there move. I have always wondered why the visiting fans sit behind our bench I just assumed it was so the home side would look more full on meaningless games, but I don’t know.
We have made such a reputation for being hard, and “alldawgs” it appears to me that maybe the only girl that is mentally capable of that challenge is KeKe……I tried to tell everybody Daysia was our glue and the leader. Everybody just wants to talk about SiSi, Kiki and Carter,SiSi was crying during the game, Carter cussing her teammates, and coaches could not keep the team focused or under control. With lack of emotional control like this is it hard to think that we’re not very far away from another Carter explosion where she chases a kid around the floor? Or another player that just stopped showing up for no apparent reason? I’ve always loved our coach Amy. I really hope she can get this together but after Wednesday , I’ve never been more concerned as a Trojan!

I mean if cussing your teammates isn’t another incident I guess not. Maybe we only measure ejections and technicals. So guess there wasn’t another incident. All other behavior seems to be acceptable.
Re: Fairland @ Portsmouth who ya got???
Completely agree about losing Reid. I also said before the season started people were underestimating how big of a loss she would be. Her scoring abilities helped open up Allen for sure. She also played tough defense and was a leader. I think this team lacks some leadership on the court if I’m being honest. Still a great team, think they’ll go far but something’s missing from this team, and that something is Reid.TrojanDon wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 6:25 amKdevilfan08 wrote: Tue Dec 16, 2025 10:20 pm I watched the game and sat close behind Portsmouth’s bench Carter is out of control cussing her teammates out #2 Allen and not hustling. Re: Fairland @ Portsmouth who ya got???
Losing Daysha was indeed a big loss, but it's early in the season and the team is still making the adjustment of playing without her. They still are a very good team worthy of making a run to the Final 4. There are some things that need attention and focus, but Coaches Amy and Mike Hughes have been in the coaching business for a long time. They will mold this team to fit the personnel available. They have a state championship on their resume, and I'm quite sure that they have dealt with the loss of a key player more times than just last season and have been very successful in doing so. As good as Daysha was, losing her is not a death blow to the team. This is still a very good Lady Trojans basketball team.
I just honestly think there's a bit of overreaction to a 5 point loss vs. a very good Fairland team, a team that also made the Final 4 last season and could repeat that again. The state tournament roster from last season had Fairland with only 2 seniors.......so most of this year's team is returning a group of veterans.

After seeing their offense the last 2 minutes of the game when they needed a bucket, Daysha was missed. There were no screens for Allen #1, ball stayed on the left side of the floor. You have 3 TO's, call a TO and set up something. Instead their PG shot a lay up that was forced and hit the front of the rim.

the Ironton football program engaged in ongoing and coordinated recruiting efforts. Records show deliberate efforts to conceal recruiting activity, including direction on how to avoid leaving evidence of infractions.
Re: Fairland @ Portsmouth who ya got???
I’m not sure about your over reaction statement. No reaction to the behavior is the issue. We obviously have the most skill team in D5 (Sienna OU signee, Carter with OSU offer, KeKe Mays playing next level and KiKi getting looks. We should have blasted olentangh and Fairland (Fairlawn only has 1 college kid). We know a coach Amy and Coach Mike have the knowledge we should dominate and win another title. How much energy and effort is being wasted trying to keep kids on the team? Is it messing with Coach Amy’s time to coach. She She openly said in interview that don’t prepare offense. Haven’t heard you address the behavior issues you may not think it’s out of hand. There seems to be “alldawg” but in the wrong ways this year. Sure miss Daysha. I was so proud of this team when they were a great rep of our community.trojandave wrote: Thu Dec 18, 2025 11:19 am Losing Daysha was indeed a big loss, but it's early in the season and the team is still making the adjustment of playing without her.
