Junior Varsity
Junior Varsity
Just curious on the area schools jv programs and their progress this season. Want to also give a shout-out to my Minford Falcons team that remains undefeated after today's 35-8 victory over Vinton County. The Falcons have also defeated Oak Hill (29-6); Nelsonville-York (32-29); Northwest (40-0); Williamsburg (47-0); Portsmouth West (27-14). Travel to Wheelersburg 10/16 and host Waverly 10/23.

Re: Junior Varsity
Our JV kids are playing well. I don't know their record because I don't look at win loss records that closely when it comes to JV/freshman/Jr high.
Championship's are won in the off-season

Re: Junior Varsity
How do most schools run their JV teams? Are they a separate team with separate practices where the younger kids get more practice snaps or do most schools have one practice for both varsity and JV players and then just bring the JV kids to the JV games. Obviously there will be some kids that play both JV and get some varsity playing time.
Re: Junior Varsity

Well it turned out to be a good game. Pirates had the momentum early and the Falcons fought back to take the lead. Wheelersburg however retook the lead and won the game 26-20. It would've been nice if Wheelersburg had an announcer for the game, but a good game none the less. Falcons close out the season Monday at home against Waverly.

Yeah, they do it in basketball but not football for some reason. Strange.mglight88 wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2017 11:44 am Well it turned out to be a good game. Does anybody know the score of the West/Waverly game from Monday? I heard both teams scored 50+.

Re: Junior Varsity
How is Waverly's QB? I haven't seen him play but have seen him in warm ups for varsity and he seems like he has a decent arm
Re: Junior Varsity
I didn't get to see him yesterday. But he makes freshmen mistakes for sure. Yes he can spin it rather well. I can see him making a very good transition. I also think the 8th grade QB is very good also. If Waverly keeps the same passing style offense they should be very good for several years to come. They still need that 1-2 punch at RB to open up that passing game. Great speed WR's are coming up also.MasterOfNone wrote: ↑Wed Oct 18, 2017 1:38 pmHow is Waverly's QB? Unioto jv won svc only losses were to London and Amanda. They play Chillicothe this Saturday do to Huntington not having jv. Lot of sophomores and freshman play. The freshman qb is gonna be a great player.
Re: Junior Varsity
West returned the opening kickoff (plus another KO) for TDs. On West's first KO it was what looked like an unintentional squib kick that a Waverly player just watched for what seemed like 30 seconds as a West player recovered it. I thought it was 22-0 in the 1st quarter. Later West fumbled and a Waverly soccer player playing DB picked it up and was then stripped of the ball and West then returned it for a TD. West #60 is huge and Waverly could not handle him on either side of the ball. Waverly JV didn't tackle any better than the varsity did against West. West was able to run relatively easily.
Waverly threw a couple long TD passes and their RB had several long runs for TDs. Can't recall how many of the TDs were running vs passing. After digging the big hole, Waverly played West about even for the rest of the game. Waverly's QB throws a nice ball, but I think the timing is not there between him and his receivers on the short possession type routes that the varsity relies on. They need more reps (practice and game) together.
