2020-2021 Top 10?

Post by Ironman92 »

Still 5 excellent teams practicing and playing and hopefully they can continue on....next year’s top 10 (on paper I guess as injuries, players not playing anymore, transfers etc)

1. Fairland
2. Logan Elm
3. Warren Local
4. Waverly
5. Wheelersburg
6. Chesapeake
7. Chillicothe
8. Logan
9. New Boston
10. Jackson

Sheridan/FU/Unioto

Let’s hear some respectful thoughts

Athens and Trimble will be pretty decent next year. Jackson and Chillicothe lose a lot. Waverly loses its big kids. Warren loses its best player. hard to predict until the recruiting process is over

As far as bigs Waverly loses only Tanner Smallwood, Futhey and Brown will be back along with possible additions.

I was good with it until Chillicothe and Logan. Logan will have a couple of nice guards, but I don’t think they will consistently see good results. Chillicothe has some great athletes coming up, but will see a sizable step back

Here’s mine:

1. Fairland
2. Logan Elm
3. Waverly
4. Chesapeake
5. Wheelersburg
6. Unioto
7. Jackson
8. Adena
9. Warren
10. Piketon

New Boston, FU, Sheridan, Chillicothe, South Point

Waverly loses 1 big but all others return and night get 2 players back that didn’t play. Robertson and Futhey will be stronger next year.

Warren returns 4 starters...they’ll be top 10.

Chilly bench didn’t play much but they’ll have a top 3 athletic team and they will guard. I’d bet almost anything they’ll be top 10

Athens will be right there in the discussion but better clean up the defense. Trimble loses their top 2 scorers and Koons? 3 of top 5 players?

Jackson will be a different team but I’m guessing 15-7 type pretty good team but not as consistent as this year. Cupboard isn’t dry

FU and LE should be the top 2 D2 teams in the area. Warren is always good. Trimbles best player is a 6'2 sophomore guard. Trimble basically lives at the convo

That’s fine but comparing all divisions of SE district.

Guffey and Weber are seniors correct? That’s their scorers.

Guffey is a sophomore. His brother that doesn't really play is a senior

My mistake. Thought I read he was a sr on the thread updates. That makes a big difference in my thoughts.

Trimble next year is Dixon, Weber, Wisor, Guffey, and Downs. Pretty solid 5. The other Weber is a big lost but Trimble always reloads

LD mixed up the Guffey’s. The good one is a sophomore. Trimble has a loaded sophomore class

Yeah. The starting lineups is my most hurried and frenzied typing.

Guffey is definitely a sophomore.

Koons and Kittle good experienced athletes

I’ll guess Trimble D4 high but not quite as overall good as this season....but probably close. Be them and New Boston. A few teams a year away will be in the mix.

Waverly has been mentioned, correcting the post about them losing their bigs.
Waverly was extremely young this year and only played 6 the majority of games.
Tigers return SOC2 & District POY in Soph Trey Robertson who has right at 750 points in his two years. But he is so much more than scoring points.
Also returning starters are Zeke Brown, Will Futhey and original starter turned 6th man after returning from his injury Mark Stulley. Brown will be a senior while Futhey and Stulley will be Juniors. Also looking to return to the hardwood will be seniors to be Haydn Shanks and Phoenix Wolf (two great football players). Shanks should be 100% recovered and depending on football recruiting will be ready to play some round ball. Wolf should also be back to 100% and may or may not play basketball but would be a great addition.
There are a few JV players from this season who could step up and see some time. If Shanks and Wolf are a go, the Tigers could be 10 deep or more in their rotation and be something to contend with.

Wheelersburg returns all but one of their varsity players. Their lone Senior this year played sparingly. Main rotation was usually 6-7 players but a couple from the bench could see some significant time next season to extend that rotation to maybe 9.

I expect two epic games between The Pirates and The Tigers again for the SOC 2 crown next season.

FU graduates their top 2 players and a solid bench player. They’ll be good, but will probably struggle at the start of the year.

Trimble is hard since they have so many of the same names every year for the last 50 years

I thought 34 was only a sophomore. I guess he’s a senior
