Coronavirus: What happens to the season?
Coronavirus: What happens to the season?
You know in the soft society that we live in today, it is a matter of time before schools are shut down for the coronavirus.
Will any high school baseball be played this spring?
I predict that very little if any will be played.

I’ve heard within 3 weeks the federal govt May shut down schools for some time

This is so stupid
And annoyingly accurate. There could be some nonsense coming out of this

Gotta blow it out of proportion to get that federal money
Re: Coronavirus: What happens to the season?
It is a matter of time for schools to cancel. OSU goes to online instruction until April. Not one death in the state.
Re: Coronavirus: What happens to the season?
Baseball should be one of the safer sports. There are really not that many fans at most games (100 instead of 1000s) and the players don't contact each other near as much as basketball, soccer, and football. The only safer sports would be golf, track, and cross country.
I do wonder about the big spectator sports.

If any of those 3 cases at Shawnee get confirmed, I'd say local schools will seriously consider closing for a little while. let's hope spring sports won't get delayed however.
Re: Coronavirus: What happens to the season?
I agree with everything you posted, except I think the issue will be that schools will end up shut down. Hard to justify keeping sports moving without interuption if school itself is cancelled for any amount of time. The Flush wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2020 9:35 am Baseball should be one of the safer sports. As someone earlier mention, this whole thing is ridiculous, but terribly accurate. If those 3 at Shawnee end up being positive test results, I think you will see school districts starting to take action.
Re: Coronavirus: What happens to the season?
I expect several schools will shut down as well.
A lot of high school kids take classes at SSU. That will fuel the fear back at the high schools.
The V.A. has closed the north entrance and has checkpoints on the road to screen patients, employees, and busloads of kids trying to play baseball there. If high schools don't cancel the season, the V.A. might not let them play any games there (although that has not been decided yet).

Athens City Schools are shutting the doors until March 30th. So we need an Athens poster to tell us if they are still practicing baseball/softball/track during the closure.

The baseball team is in Florida now, so I assume that they still are since they are there for that reason. But, they are not allowed to until the 30th for practices and such
Re: Coronavirus: What happens to the season?
Either there is something they know about this illness that they are not telling us or we live in an incredibly soft society where the media blows everything out of proportion.
I believe it is the latter. Sad.
We're going to see districts closing down left and right. We'll be lucky to get half the season in

And they are trying to prevent a death! That’s why they are shutting stuff down. I’m not saying I agree with it but I am guessing that’s why they are doing it.
Stop making excuses and start making things happen!
Re: Coronavirus: What happens to the season?
That’s why they shouldn’t have released anything to the media. Instead they released it to the media and freaked people out even more.

If they are trying to prevent death, prohibition would work. So, people don't drink and drive.
