Will Dewine Shut Down the Champioships?

Post by BigChuck »

Been hearing some chatter that Deslime is gonna halt all extra curricular activities prior to the championship games....

There's the BURG....then there's everyone else!

I can tell you one thing. If he does his approval rating in Lake county and Lawrence county will be 0. I would add Auglaize county and Mercer county in the 0 approval rating as well. I think they will be played though

I’m hearing that he won’t delay sports because of the backlash on pro and college sports. If he cancels high school he will have pressure to shutdown college and pro sports.

The guy is a total mess. He’s in a pickle right now. He won’t cancel this weekend, especially after D1 has crowned their champion. He’s trying to use this curfew to curb what’s probably coming next. A complete shutdown of schools until after New Year’s Eve. They will re-evaluate then and try to start playing basketball then. A shorter season right into playoffs just like football. Wrestling probably canceled this year.

He's so fall of contradictions who knows what he's apt to do. He clearly thinks nothing through. By instituting the curfew he's essentially banning Black Friday shopping. Sounds like a good idea on the surface, but what are those people going to do but go shopping during normal hours when everyone else is shopping, thus putting more people in the stores together than would normally be the case. Spectators at sporting events who are practicing social distance guidelines have to wear masks, but those competing and having no social distancing aren't required to wear masks. Those are just two of many examples. No wonder many people agree that he's a joke and doesn't have a clue.

Franklin county just issued a stay at home order that goes into effect the 11-20 with no recommended extracurricular activities. That may shut it down.

No shenanigans either. I’m sure the teams would have been alerted. They could recommend no fans. That would be an option

Move it to any number of stadiums outside of Franklin County. That are in the surrounding counties. Problem solved

Stay at Home Advisory for Franklin County. Not an order.
You can still go to work, school, grocery store, etc.

Yep, 1:15 and 6:15 are the adjusted times. Making sure they have a much greater chance to clear the stadium out by 10 while still having a full postgame celebration for the teams.

Apparently Ohio State is not allowing family(fans) to attend this weekend's game with Indiana because of Franklin County's stay at home advisory. Not sure if the high school games will follow suit:

This is a good move. It ensures no one at the games will contract the virus because as we all know the virus doesn't come out until 10pm. :o

I'm just glad that someone figured out the athletes on the field can't contract the virus while they participating. This is obviously true since they don't have to wear masks. If no one ever figured that out we wouldn't even be having any games for sure.

If Franklin County Public Health didn’t endorse the idea of the state championships being played at Fortress Obetz, then they wouldn’t be played there.
