Chilli at 7? I'll take it, but new coaches take time to settle in usually. Don't think we'll be THAT good next year, but I'm pretty optimistic with the Bartholomew hire. 2nd in FAC minimum next year.

Athens should be better in 2022 as they should gain experience from this past season and use the offseason to improve. They had mostly freshman and sophmores playing as those two classes made up over half of the team. Athens has the same schedule next fall as it did this year only locations are flipped.
Re: Way to Early SEOPs SEO Top 10 for 2022..
I watched Athens once last year and what I saw made it hard to believe they lost that many. I really thought they needed a good running back to keep the other teams playing the pass.AHS_Stephens wrote: ↑Mon Dec 27, 2021 5:41 pm Athens should be better in 2022 as they should gain experience from this past season and use the offseason to improve. Maybe a little high for Portsmouth. Although I still expect them to win several games, I think they take a step back. Breaking in 3 new OL, new QB, losing several skill position kids, as well as your leading tackler on defense. I would say maybe 5-5 for the Trojans in 2022.

I agree with BuckeyeBlood........quite a few key losses, but the Trojans will still be competitive, and with the expanded playoffs, could be good enough to see a Week 11 game.
Re: Way to Early SEOPs SEO Top 10 for 2022..
I would say Waverly probably should be in place of Portsmouth on this list. Waverly loses the big talent they had at the WR position but they return the entire line and RBs. Defense they return the front 7 I believe minus Futhey at DE. Everyone knows in this area if you're returning everything up front and a quality RB you should be in good shape regardless of having to break in a new QB. They won't be near as explosive but they should be strong up front on both sides of the ball.

I thought the younger Futhey would be the returning QB for the Tigers.

Pretty sure the Futhey boys are twins and both Sr's. Unless there is a 3rd one I don't know about?Omega wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 8:15 pmgreygoose wrote: ↑Tue Dec 28, 2021 5:41 pmI would say Waverly probably should be in place of Portsmouth on this list. Waverly lost #4 Barnett (sp?) at Linebacker also. He is a significant loss as well.
This group of seniors will be difficult to replace.
Re: Way to Early SEOPs SEO Top 10 for 2022..
West should be higher on the list. Lost 2 seniors (Center/DT and FB/LB) that played significant time and the kicker. Should get one RB/LB back from injury. Had 2 freshmen playing defense against Wheelersburg that should step into those spots. Return experienced Quarterback and Skill Guys including SOC Back of Year in Sissel who had 1500 yards this year. Head Coach gets a full season after taking over in June last year. Anything less than an SOC Championship and Regional Final would be a disappointment.
Re: Way to Early SEOPs SEO Top 10 for 2022..
I thought the same thing but I think given how early it is in the rankings going behind Ironton, Burg, FF and Jackson isn't anything to sneeze at, I believe the top 6 teams on this list are going to be EXTREMELY tough in 2022.Westfan wrote: ↑Wed Dec 29, 2021 10:21 am West should be higher on the list. Yeah Barnett is a loss for them for sure but with all the injuries they had at LB this past season they had a bunch of guys get playing time so that soften that blow. The seniors they lose will be difficult for sure as they're going to go from what 3-4 senior WRs and DBs starting to possibly 1 senior in the new group for next year, 3-4 sophomores and juniors to step up and 1 freshman will be in the mix as well. So they'll be very young on the outside for sure. They'll have to ride that OL and running game more so than in the last few years past

Teams were trying to defend Futhey and Morrison deep and the underneath passing game to Stulley. Success in the run game had a lot to do with defenses in a 6 man box. Running the ball is gonna be way more difficult this year.

The problem with evaluating the Athens area is most on this forum don’t get to watch or sample the area.
Re: Way to Early SEOPs SEO Top 10 for 2022..
Trimble loses a good bit but at the end of the day Trimble is Trimble and Phil has reloaded time and time again. NY returns a ton and their defense should be very good. NY has a good sophomore class that got a lot of experience that will be juniors this year. The 8th grade class coming in is very talented. Offensively we return all the RBs and WRs. QB will be the biggest question mark.
