As the Cabell Midland game backed up, when Ironton plays equal or better talent they not only loose, but usually get whipped.

If great coaching is getting players, then they are the best. If actually developing players and teams is great coaching, then they are not well coached.

The only rankings I pay attention to are the official rankings.

What will it take to get Ironton competitive in the big stage? Sure they bully around inferior SEO teams. But get slapped on the big stage . Is it inferior genes , is it soft SEO kids , is it coaching ?

What it will take for ironton to win on the biggest stage In Canton are three things. 1. Cut out turnovers. Cut out a the ever present stupid personal fouls. And third but not least is improve your line play on both sides of the ball. The state games that I gave watched they get totally dominated at the line of scrimmage.

CM was going in to score to make it a 4 touchdown game and the kid fumbled. Ironton tacked on a late TD to make the score look better. It wasn’t close

Hope it happens too. The OVC is a much better football conference in 2023 than the SOC. Look at all the games head to head this year and it’s not close. Ironton has played just as tough a schedule as Wheelersburg and Ironton was younger at the beginning of the year.

I don't think it would have mattered. The talent just wasn't there. Same as when Pendleton took over. His first year and he struggled then he started building his teams. For some reason Ironton can't believe that they would have been mediocre without the kids coming in. Hell, even Vass would have won with all the talent he brought in

OVC did win 5 games against 2 losses versus the SOC, but saying it wasn’t close is silly.

Two top teams in both conferences… OVC’s top two won by 3 pts against SOC top 2.

OH and Valley took a beating as did Portsmouth, but the majority of games were very competitive.
