D7 R27 2025
Hillsdale and Lucas have been pushed from R25 to R27 for 2025. With the region already having Danville, Trimble, Newark Catholic, River, and Waterford, it shapes up to be a highly competitive and a much stronger R27. Thoughts on a winner? Sleepers?

Re: D7 R27 2025
I mean i'd say the teams you have highlighted are the usual suspects right. Danville & Hillsdale played in a state semi last year and are now gonna battle in the region. Don't know what each returns, Hillsdales QB was a So. but Danville is always Danville. Waterford seems to be on a great trajectory back down in D7 wouldn't shock me if they make a run. Trimble, Lucas, River have solid programs so who knows. NC is so weird being down for a few years now, but theres still that NC on the helmet.... IF they can get into the top 16 with their schedule they could win the region.... or at least I think they can.
Re: D7 R27 2025
What is going on with Newark Catholic? Is it coaching? Or just a downturn in talent? Sounds like their schedule is not helping.Play60Football wrote: Tue May 06, 2025 7:22 am I mean i'd say the teams you have highlighted are the usual suspects right. I agree. It is weird seeing them go 1-9.
I keep hearing Waterford as a sleeper to win the region.
Re: D7 R27 2025
Saw NC last year and unless they pick up a ton of new players they will be lucky to be in that top 16. They are nothing like the NC teams that Paint Valley played a few years back.

Waterford definitely has the talent, but depends on how bad they want it.dnis30 wrote: Tue May 06, 2025 7:47 amWhat is going on with Newark Catholic? Is it coaching? Or just a downturn in talent? Re: D7 R27 2025
Their issue is they’ve had the two smallest classes in terms of boys enrollment back-to-back, and Granville got a couple one-year rentals on 3-year starters for them before last season. Teams like Eastern (Beaver) would’ve gone 1-9 on that schedule, too.dnis30 wrote: Tue May 06, 2025 7:47 amWhat is going on with Newark Catholic? Is it coaching? Or just a downturn in talent? Re: D7 R27 2025
That was kind of my thinking, they've clearly had a drop in some talent.... comparative to who their playing. But how some of these other schools in this region are "battle tested" doesn't compare to NC.formerfcfan wrote: Tue May 06, 2025 1:40 pmTheir issue is they’ve had the two smallest classes in terms of boys enrollment back-to-back, and Granville got a couple one-year rentals on 3-year starters for them before last season. Re: D7 R27 2025
I know Hillsdale is returning darn near the entire team. Danville should be stout again as well. Lucas will be decent, still a bit young.Splashshooter wrote: Tue May 06, 2025 12:30 pmWaterford definitely has the talent, but depends on how bad they want it.dnis30 wrote: Tue May 06, 2025 7:47 amWhat is going on with Newark Catholic? Not sure about Trimble. It sounds like Waterford can make a run at week 13 if they get after it. We shall see.
Re: D7 R27 2025
hopefully Symmes Valley makes playoffs this year. they have a ton of talent coming up. it’s been rough since Webb left

I'm hearing Miller may be a player in this region. Anyone have an update on what they have coming back?

Re: D7 R27 2025
I know for sure that Zander Bice is back for Miller and also know that Logan Doughty will not play for Miller, as he is graduating. I don’t know about anybody else
There's nothing better than Friday nights and Gridiron Glory.
Re: D7 R27 2025
Miller was a senior heavy team with Bice really being the only major player returning. Depending on their schedule I’d think they’re looking at 4-5 wins just based on who graduateddnis30 wrote: Wed May 14, 2025 1:26 pm I'm hearing Miller may be a major player in this region. So a borderline playoff team, not a regional championship contender. Re: D7 R27 2025
What has happened to newark catholic football. Previously had won 8 state championships and we're always a power. Last year 1-9.
Re: D7 R27 2025
Everyone wants to blame the schedule, they’ve always played a tough schedule. I think what has happened to them is that the times finally caught up with them in that they’re now not immune to a 2-3-4 year slump of talent and numbers. Couple that with their schedule and you get 1-9, so now like many D6-7 teams they’re waiting for that next group or 2 of classes to come through to get back to winning. They’re not that reload team anymore.gobucs20 wrote: Thu May 15, 2025 12:15 pm What has happened to newark catholic football. Previously had won 8 state championships and we're always a power. Re: D7 R27 2025
Very true in much that you said! I was shocked in the product they put on the field and the “size” of the product lol. I believe they have a young HC and it has shown as well so it has been a combination of factors for sure. Maybe this is the season things start getting back to normal for them.greygoose wrote: Fri May 16, 2025 6:54 amEveryone wants to blame the schedule, they’ve always played a tough schedule.
