I wouldn't want my football players playing baseball because of the risk of getting beaned or smacked in the head by a line drive. I'd want them running track or in the weight room. During the winter, I'd want them wrestling. Wrestling makes you mean and tough as nails which is needed for late October and November football season.

Maybe..maybe not..in a 16 team playoff format, it's a lot easier than it was 15 years ago. All it takes is a favorable playoff draw in week 11.

True. I hope Gallia gets things going in the right direction. They played my tigers tough the year before last. I remember the late 90s early 2000 Gallia teams were pretty stout. Almost unheard of the type of nosedive the program took this past year.

That's what I'm saying. GA has a handful of parents in the community who need to bite their g.d. tongues and let the COACH be the Coach, since that's why he has that title.

Common sense ain't too common in the Old French City anymore. Back in the day, if a kid mouthed off, he was running suicides and doing push-ups til the coaches got tired of watching it. If he mouthed off during a game, Coach would grab him by the facemask and scream at him, reminding him who runs the show.

Now it's all bass ackwards. Entitled Mama's boy kids think they're all that and a bag of chips and they refuse to let a Coach be tough on them.

Uncoachable kids become unemployable adults and I think we can all agree there are wasaaaaaaayyyy too many of the latter, nowadays. Boys and young men need a father to be tough on them at home and a teacher/coach to be tough on them at school. That's how young men learn. Mommy coddling her special little boy forever doesn't accomplish anything and does the boy a disservice in the end.

I'm gonna get off my soapbox and get back to football. I hope Coach Jarrell has some patience and has the stones to tell nosy parents to stick it somewhere the sun doesn't shine when they try to coach from the bleachers. Every coach has to start somewhere. If he reads this site, I would suggest first going to the wrestling and track coaches to try and recruit from their ranks. Then get in the hallways and look for all the big boys you can find and don't take no for an answer.
Whos the middle school coach?

Community support and good coaching. Ironton showed what that can do in just two short years. Community support funds the program and parents push their kids to be better and do better. Coaching gets the kids excited and convinces the parents to get on board. Gallia needs a coach like the one they pushed out the door a couple years ago because the wrong family got mad at him.

GA needs a no nonsense coach like they had back in the day, like the current ad played under. If you put in the work, listened and did what you was told, you played. Parents stayed in the stands where they belonged, not telling why their kids should play instead of riding the bench. But kids don't want to put in the work, they want positions handed to them bc of who they are.

They 110% had that in Carter too. That's the sick part of it all. Almost all of the players loved playing for him too. *Almost*

Youre putting the kids down when the parents are the ones who ruined the program

No harm its just how things are ran now just like graduating a home schooled student took classes on line from GA played sports for Gallia but was not allowed to participate and they still set in the crowd and cheers other students. That is down right terrible.

Random idea, but since we're still in the dreaming phase for a new stadium, I'd love to see GA get alternating blue and white patches of turf, similar to what Central Arkansas does with their gray and purple. The out of bounds lines and yard line markers would probably have to be black or orange. Something that stands out equally from blue and white.

No way that ever happens, but it would look cool, for sure.

I think it is crazy., that people think because people post things on a sports website. That a community doesn't support a team.

If you look at the posters on this sight especially Gallia academy posters. How many posters do you see on here now that posted when the noise makers were against coach Penrod'. Now look at all the people that thought Carter was great hardly any of them post. The thing that gets me is look at those 2 coaches their accomplishments almost the exact same. Both were southeast Ohio coach of the year and so on.

My point is go to games on a Friday night if a visiting team travels over 30 minutes away Gallia academy travels as well or better then anyone in southeastern Ohio. A 1-9 gallia academy team would have more people show up at coal grove or Portsmouth than a 9-1 team they would have traveling.

The boosters make and give to the athletic programs basically the max they can give almost every year.

If there is a problem it is the parents but it is the parents not being involved in the boosters. Most of the people involved in the boosters haven't had kids in school for years. They are the people from the community that you idiots say don't support their coaches and teams.

Let me ask you this. Do you not think that Chesapeake, wellston, Athens, Portsmouth west and other schools don't have drama or problems. When those programs are down. You can't get 5 people to post on their threads of their teams. What other school besides Gallia academy can be as pedestrian as they are and still have that much interest.

Those of you not here don't understand because when your team sucks your community ignores them. Here there is constant interest. If we are good or bad.

I don't know but I bet you if football attendance was recorded that Gallia academy at 1-9 had more people attend its game then 50% of schools in state and 75% in southeast Ohio.

So do we all agree absolutely not. Does most people in the stands think they can out coach the head coach in a Friday night yes. But that has been the case since the 70's when I go to other schools games I hear the same things in their stands you don't hear about it because people don't care.

I will even go a step farther if you had to form a high school football conference or any sport almost all of you would want Gallia academy in your conference for the competition and because the fans show up.

A lot of assumption in an otherwise meaningless post, more ppl showing up that a team winning games, more ppl showing up for a 1-9 team that 50% of the schools in ohio, WOW. Hop off that soap box son, no one is worried about nor talking about Gallia you had to post this because there is no talk about Gallia outside of the over/under bet on how many coaches they can hire in a year then run off.

Meigs wins one or two games against GA in a decade and treats every one like a league championship. Notice a trend here? Anytime Meigs beats GA, it's because GA has a historically bad season (1-9 or 0-10)
