The meeting wasn’t about Coach Pendleton. The meeting was about how to spend the Covid money before they have to give it back. Some people wanted it to be used on the indoor training facility that all students could use. I guess the Superintendent wants to find something else to use the money on, we shall see, they have a couple weeks or the money has to go back.

They should start with a new sound system and getting rid of that awful press box right in the middle of the away stands.

When was the last time you was there? they have a new sound system and it sounds great, as far as the booth, it was rebuilt higher than the old one, you’ll just have to deal with it.

The travel team I coached was part of the school, in this case a D1 school. Maybe travel team is the wrong words but it was definitely tied to an educational athletics environment.

One kid on the team was Phoenix Wolf. His name may sound familiar because his family moved to Waverly where Phoenix and his brother were football stars.

To me and just my opinion. Pendleton shouldnt make any more than Coach Lutz made as the football coach until Trevon surpasses what Coach Lutz accomplished. He has done a good job and he is paid to do that.

I'm 100% certain SEOPs will not be the venue for any breaking news concerning Pendelton's career path, or any other coach. Pendeleton, and all the other coaches, deserve every penny they can obtain. We all want more for the work we do, and why shouldn't we.

He’s right up there in annoyance level with the guy from Rock Hill when he says first down redmen every time in a stupid voice, the guy from Portsmouth who leaves his mic on and laughs at stuff and chews food.

Same person that walked away from the Ironton program years ago to go to Rock Hill. This guy left because he could not get his way with the new coach at that time. Now he is on the board wake up people!

A pay raise? This is high school football lol

I’m told not necessarily for coaching. Although it’s been posted he is one of the lowest paid coaches in SEO. He’s the AD at Ironton and for years Ironton AD was a Full time Administrative position. Then when they went to OVC they cut the position back to half teacher/ and made AD part-time. Last year BOE made the AD position full time again but only increased pay a few thiusand dollars from part time. He is now one of if not the lowest paid full time AD in SEO as well. They are wanting to get him back to administrative pay and keep him long term. That’s all. I’m told this is completely a community led deal and not from Coach Pendleton or Teachers Union.

Listen I’m not saying he isn’t worth the money but at some point people need to realize where you are. He’s not at a D1 school, it’s D5. The school has the lowest paid teachers in the county. Put money there. Don’t build a $1 million dollar shell for an indoor facility. Is Pendleton worth more money? Sure, but at what costs? At some point, the money can’t continually be raised. You are at Ironton, not Moeller. Give the teachers a one time bonus of let’s say $1,500. Improve the track, soccer field, baseball and softball. The Tank just got a brand new press box and scoreboard. And yes I know football at Ironton is the big money maker. But, if you look at other schools that have football, I would almost guarantee football is the biggest money draw. Regardless of wins and loses. It doesn’t matter if he wins 1 state championship or 5. The school can only afford what’s budgeted. No ones kid goes to college without teachers who care, bus drivers who smile and greet your kids, cooks who may give them their only hot meal of the day. Every graduation, every passing state test score, every perfect attendance, every smile is an extension of the district. Not one team or person. Teachers stay because they love Ironton, not because they get paid the most. Parents, you have a wonderful coach, but at what cost are you willing to take away from the whole?

ESSER money (COVID) was already distributed and had to be spent by last September. You should try not to supply false information.

One thing I've learned over the years... is don't get in anybodys business about money... hes worth every penny that he can get/that they'll give him...and that goes for everyone. And this'll be unpopular...but its true... the teachers around here (or elsewhere else) aren't exactly churning out the greatest product.... and i understand all the other factors and excuses and blah blah... but youd have to agree Pendleton gets results. And those results are what makes him a valuable asset. Everyone has the opportunity to be valuable... If theyd only stop complaining about someone who did it..

Results with regards to games won? Absolutely! Just won a state title.

Results with regards to financial impact? That may not be as significant. Don’t know those numbers, but they are the numbers that count.

Summary from Facebook posts: Board meeting Wednesday at 5:30. Pendleton himself posts that players shouldn’t be at meeting. Nobody saying what the board meeting is actually about. Former players Carrico, Terry, and Felder all posting separate messages about school board making the right decision or losing a great coach (paraphrased). Sure seems like things going on in Ironton schools besides COVID money discussions.

The Covid money has to be spent toward the wellness of the students, it can’t be used to give to teachers or coaches, bus drivers, cooks or any other individual.
