Probably be 2-8 or 3-7 if they stay healthy. Belpre, Southern and FH should be winnable games. Not sure they can beat anyone else.dboy wrote: Wed Apr 09, 2025 7:48 pm Will football be affected at Trimble with their economic situation? I would be shocked if so but who knows. Heard they cut out bussing.

Is Trimble really going to be that bad? I’d heard they had some questionable spending issues and had to get rid of some of their top brass but wasn’t aware that it could affect the football program.Diamond*D1* wrote: Thu Jul 10, 2025 9:22 amThey will beat Belpre, FH, Southern and Trimble. If Belpre would have played their cards right and ponied up at the right time THE man would still be there and we’d be celebrating titles now instead of just hoping to score a TD and maybe beat Feeder Hockey.

Hey Jimmie the only reason you even won 2 games at Belpre is because your 3 best players were from Parkersburg, WEST VIRGINIA (not sure that’s legal) However, You did set a record by giving up 81 points in a game. Put that on your resume and maybe you’ll get another coaching job.JBsezBELIEVE wrote: Sat Jul 19, 2025 3:12 pm If Belpre would have played their cards right and ponied up at the right time THE man would still be there and we’d be celebrating titles now instead of just hoping to score a TD and maybe beat Feeder Hockey.

The Jimmy situation was bad. Not sure how much better the current situation is though. They need to stop hiring these old guys, especially ones that have never been successful. I wish them the best though and hope they can win a game or two.UncleRico05 wrote: Sun Jul 20, 2025 8:18 amHey Jimmie the only reason you even won 2 games at Belpre is because your 3 best players were from Parkersburg, WEST VIRGINIA (not sure that’s legal) However, You did set a record by giving up 81 points in a game. Good to see NY pick up Chillicothe in the pre-season....hopefully it converts to a regular season series in the future.
New Lex is a longtime scrimmage opponent that could easily become a non-conference rivalry in the regular season.

I’d like to see New Lex become a regular season game and the jamboree go back to Jackson.NYBuckeye96 wrote: Wed Jul 30, 2025 8:06 pm Good to see NY pick up Chillicothe in the pre-season....hopefully it converts to a regular season series in the future.

Re: Let's Talk TVC Ohio & Hocking
Belpre...lets put it this way, we now have some continuity in our football program under coach Welsh that we didn't have before him. We will be fielding junior high football for the 3rd year in a row. Yes, the first team 2 years ago was rough but at least those boys were playing games and getting reps that they hadn't been. Last year saw the 7th/8th grade team finish with a winning record. Coach Brad Holbert has done a very nice job of getting boys out and building the program at that level. Not sure of the numbers for this year but we will be fielding a team.
High school...from very early reports we will be young, only 2 seniors with 1 having substantial experience. We have changed the schedule to help us be more competitive in games, cut down the number of running clock games so our boys can get in as many game reps as possible that were missing from the blowout loses the past 4 years. 1-9 each of the last 2 years and the 1 team we beat last year, Beallsville, has been closed and consolidated into the remaining schools in Monroe County. Game at Oak Glen, WV will replace Beallsville. From what I have seen in the past week we will have a team of 25-28 players this year. We have to stay healthy which is hard to do. If we stay healthy AND have patience with a very young team we could go 3-7. Maybe that doesn't excite many folks but to me that would be a HUGE step in rebuilding the program. Plus, if we can cut the running clock games down to next to nothing and get meaningful game reps then we have achieved a milestone in my opinion.
I can't say enough about the community finally passing the new school bond issue after 11 defeats. The kids are excited and feel the support of the town that they haven't felt for some time in Belpre.
I drove by the high school the other day at 11 am. The football team was on their practice field. The marching band on their practice field. Cross country team was finishing up their stretching and getting ready for their workouts. The soccer team was on their practice field. Doing a very quick head count we must of had close to 125 kids spending a very hot July day working on what they enjoy doing. I am sure the golf team was at Oxbow and the volleyball team was at camp so that number had to be over 150 teenagers putting in work. Very proud of our youth and those that coach/teach them every day.
It should be even more exciting when they start building the new 6-12 grade school/building next summer with a planned opening in the fall of 2028.
As always...
