Re: 25-26 OVC basketball
Portsmouth returns 4 of 5 starters from the 2025 D5 State Championship team. They are:
Sienna Allen............6-0 SR.......13.8 PPG.........signed with Ohio University
Hayven Carter..........5-11 JR......10.5 PPG
KeKe Woods.............5-5 JR.......12.4 PPG
KK Mays..................5-10 SR......5 PPG
The rest of the roster at this time (could see some additions after tryouts)
Brianna Shannon.......5-11 JR.......part time starter
Sky Mays.................5-10 SO
Salem Allen..............5-7 SO
Abi Whitt.................FR
Portsmouth won the state with the smallest roster among the 28 schools that participated in the 7 division tournament (9 girls).
Portsmouth rolled to a perfect 14-0 OVC mark a year ago, and finished with a 27-1 record. The Lady Trojans closest game in the tournament was a 48-35 win over Tuscarawas Tusky Valley in the regional semifinal. PHS defeated Creston Norwayne 53-38 to win the D5 state title.
The Lady Trojans' schedule can be found on a separate Lady Trojans thread on SEOPS Girls Basketball Forum.

Portsmouth is certainly the favorite
Fairland and CG will be toss-up
Balanced below the top 3

Fairlands going to be a little down this season , theyll be fine but it wont be a typical season for them . Portsmouth should win the state again imo.

I would be surprised if Fairland and Portsmouth don’t meet again in the final four. Fairland only lost one starter to graduation.

Didn't the one from Chesapeake go back to peak also?Jonjon wrote: Tue Nov 04, 2025 11:14 pm I would be surprised if Fairland and Portsmouth don’t meet again in the final four. Fairland only lost one starter to graduation.

She wasn’t a starter. She was from fairland, but transferred to Chesapeake. I hear she doesn’t have to sit out half the year now bc her family bought a house in Chesapeake.

That one senior was really good but I agree, they are still talented enough to make another deep run. Not sure they have enough to beat Portsmouth but they will be better than most other. Good luck and good health.

While I do agree, I think Portsmouth may not be as good as last season. Losing Reid will be a bigger hit than many realize. Short bench and not being able to really replace her offense may hurt Portsmouth when it really matters. With that said I do think the Trojans have a real shot to repeat.dboy wrote: Thu Nov 06, 2025 10:54 am That one senior was really good but I agree, they are still talented enough to make another deep run. Yes she went back to peake. She ended the year last year as a starter. So they are basically down two starters. Portsmouth walks through this conference again this year.
