Since losing Brinager, they were struggling... Davis has no one to help him.
And Brinager was Meigs' best player last year, so there's that.
With all of the stuff going on at Ironton, I’ll be the one to ask: is his transfer legit? Didn’t he already transfer out of Southern to Meigs before?

Pretty sure the Brinager kid went to Meigs for two years. He played at southern before high school. And I think he had an older brother that played in southern. If it’s his home district, there’s no sit out rule.
Meigs has a great giard - Tracy. He was hurt last year at thr beginning of the season.

Brinnager's entire family does and always have lived in Southern district. His Grandmother and Aunt both teach at southern, which is why everyone was so confused and devastated when he chose to go to one of the worst sports schools in southeast ohio at Meigs.

When parents don't like the coach, they move their kid around then find out they still don't like the coach where they went to, so they move back. More about parents then players

Gotcha. It almost makes sense for every kid who is uncertain about their future to just start at a different school district to see if they like it first and then have the fall back option to just come back to their home district with no consequences.

Things got quiet when the legitimacy of the transfers were brought into question here.

Heard Howie Cadwell is helping at Eastern and they got a few really good players coming in. He was always good at attracting talent when he was there before so not surprised.

Southern wins the conference.

What kid of tourney run they have depends on how Coach Caldwell plays the game

Howsy is back at Eastern? Cool. There goes the football program. He’ll be talking kids into “focusing on basketball” and not playing any other sports. But hey, that’s the Racine way.

Look out, we’re adding a fourth play next year

Wheatley transfer has been confirmed from some of his friends and family as legitimate luckily since he is moving into the district.

I believe him and Wheatley will have to sit out depending on the time of the move or if they played fall sports,Wheatley played football for Athens so he’ll most like have to sit out.

Wheatley's transfer is legit, he should not have to sit out any of the season. His father moved into the district.

yea, legit alright. Crazy how these folks think. As for the VC/Meigs kid, it is happening. The other kid that transferred from Oak Hill to Meigs, from what I was told is not sitting out, his family owns rentals in the district and "moved."

Is Hosey really back at it? If so, will he get along with the football coach? Thoughts?

The Eastern–Waterford game last night was an excellent matchup. These two teams really mirror each other well. Eastern’s Lloyd played an extremely clean game, and despite being guarded tightly by both Heiner and Fairchild—and having about three inches on each of them—Waterford’s defenders did an impressive job containing him.

Shooting was Waterford’s biggest hurdle, as very little seemed to fall early on. But Pennock stepped up with some huge shots and finished as Waterford’s leading scorer. The trio of Heiner, Fairchild, and Roberts worked extremely well together on the floor and gave the Eagles plenty of trouble offensively and defensively.

Waterford looks like a team that will continue to improve as they get more time together. Coach Cunningham and Coach Roe are a fantastic coaching duo, and watching from behind the bench made it clear how well their game plan unfolded. Roe especially brings that motivational spark—he coached Waterford years ago, and you can still see his ability to keep players locked in when things get tough.

Even though Heiner and Fairchild didn’t have big scoring nights, they probably played their best defensive games so far, which kept Waterford in it. Pennock showed real leadership on both ends, including taking the assignment on Lloyd at times.

After the tough loss to Eastern in last year’s tournament, I honestly wasn’t sure how this matchup would go—but it’s clear Waterford is moving in the right direction.

Next week brings Southern and Trimble, and those should be great games to watch as well.
