Thoughts on Webster this season?

Post by MacklinCrosby1988 »

With Roberts gone, I think Webster will be significantly worse but we have a lot of depth nontheless! I'm excited to watch the season our boys will play, go jeeps! -Mack

Agreed! My co-worker introduced me to this website last week and i finally made an account but there aren't enough people talking about SW! I'm guessing if we had a football team we might have a few more posts here haha -Mack

It is too early in the year to be talking basketball. Give it a couple more weeks. To answer your question, SW will be much smaller on the front line but will be fundamentally sound. A 500 record or above is doable.

Why?? They played just as good if not better when he wasn't on the court, which was quite a bit so they've had plenty of time to adjust to that element.

Agreed with the above post. SW the past two seasons presented two different teams on the court. 1. With Roberts. 2. Without.
Both won a ton of games.

I think a lot of people will be surprised this year with the product Norm and Fenton will bring. In my opinion Barnard has played conservatively the past three seasons but has shown multiple times he’s capable of 20+ any given night. Same with McClintic if he can get to the basket.

Looking for the younger Barnard to come out of hiding. I think he’s very slept on as far as capabilities go.

I’m sure Large will be a factor too on any given night just from his size and strength alone.

Defensively the jeeps will be down with Roberts inside presence missing and of course the defensive GOAT Shupert being gone. It’s time to start a new Era in the Darcee dome

The Jeeps are gonna be fun to watch, they competed vs Meigs in the scrimmage this past weekend. They might’ve even won the scrimmage, they let Carson Davis get his. But the Buecler kid was shut down for the most part. Give me a 4 way tie in the SOC3 with SW being apart of it.

The Jeeps will be fine! I watched the SW @ Meigs scrimmage - they answered a lot of questions for ME ... Easton Large 6-5 fr - is the real deal and WILL BE the REAL DEAL ... I see him being an Adam Guthrie (6-7 sr @ Miami Trace) type of player only BETTER as the year moves along and he gets his "varsity ball" legs under him ... 6-5 size, offensive lineman build, great footwork, a LEFTY, actually plays in the paint, boards at both ends of the floor, scores on the blocks AND can step out and hit the smooth/lefty/three pointer - I liked what I saw!!! ... when I ranked SW I didn't have a 6-5 Easton Large in the equation - darn Ouija Board SHOULD have known! but I didn't ... Large is a game changer for where SW is as a TEAM ... with Large in the paint, the Jeeps can run an offense that includes getting the ball in the post ... the ball can go inside where he can score on the blocks BUT with the option of Large kicking it outside to Hunter Barnard, McClintic ... I saw a very good TEAM vs Meigs the other night (I watched the scrimmage video on hudl) ... better than the #23 I have them in the preseason rankings - Large puts them in the 15-20 group imo ... Barnard the elder - scores at all 3 levels ... one of the best 3 point shooters in the SE district imo ... can't let him shoot the 3 , because he shoots the 3 so well it enables him to use his quickness to get that first step to get to the paint, to the rim - he's a good one ... again because of Large in the paint - he doesn't have to cheat to stay inside to help on the boards he is freed up to put his offensive arsenal on display, same with McClintic - Large allows EVERYONE to play their own positions/roles ... the Jeeps will be a pain for opponents on defense with their quickness - that was going to be the case with or without Large on the floor ... Jeeps will definitely be in contention in the SOC3 & a D7 post season run to the Convo ... is Beau Stephens OUT for the entire season?

Yes he tore an ACL and/or meniscus up back in the summer.

One thing you’re not going to see this season is a bunch of moping around and pouting either.

The fact that these ole boys competed and possibly even beat Meigs in a scrimmage is wild! Continue to find a way. JV team was well off in ‘24. Regional Final? Not so sure. However, competitive - 100.

Bottom half of the league. That’s no hit on them. The conference is insane. I’m not sure they’ll win more than 3 games in the SOCIII though.

If they win 5 in conference I’ll buy Swanker an adult beverage.

Easy money right there. According to Pfloyd Webster beat meigs by 8 points. Yall sleeping on the big red machine this year just because Roberts is gone.

I’ll never understand why folks just fully ignore the game that happens before the varsity contest. Like it means nothing at all.

Yes, JV isn’t varsity, but when those teams are hammering opponents through skill, it is pretty obvious that they can play at the varsity level. Just, sometimes they are behind a loaded group of seniors.

South Webster will be just fine.

Just for pictures. He’s projected to be back for 2nd half of baseball. Unfortunately, not basketball.
