Southeast Boys BB scrimmages…
Re: Southeast Boys BB scrimmages…
The Peake scrimmaged Oak Hill last night and varsity played 5 quarters. The won all five with last two they stepped up defensively and won 17-1 and 24-9. Ater played his bench alot but he can go 8 or 9 deep. Oak Hill has one kid who can shoot the three and in first two quarters hit 5 in a row, but didn't have a lot of help scoring.
JV had played 2 and Peake won both and were going to play another when I left.
Next scrimmage is Sat 22nd at home vs Portsmouth West
Then at Chillicothe on 24th.

Peake is the real deal and should roll to the regionals at a minimum. Several of their guys are just naturally gifted and have put in the time. If their role guys can hit some shots and do their job defensively throughout the year then the skies the limit.peake71 wrote: Sat Nov 15, 2025 9:25 am The Peake scrimmaged Oak Hill last night and varsity played 5 quarters. Pleased with Oak Hill's competiveness. They are replacing all five starters from last year and were obviously a mismatch coming into the scrimmage but did not lie down. Grant Walker coming back from injury will help in the coming weeks.

Saw Alexander vs Southern friday night. Please excuse me i dont know any of their names.
Southern i believe won most of the quarters.
Big guy from meigs for southern is the real deal.. Should average 20 a game at least. But... Southern will go as he does. Not much scoring after him
Alexander played better as the night went along. They also have a nice size guy inside played pretty well against the meigs transfer. Alex will struggle early but i think they win a handful of games.

Good to hear Southern will be well off. Coach Caldwell has always ran a good team out on the floor.
However, I have seen other posts about Alexander. Seems like they are down a bit. I could be wrong here but the word is Waverly beat them 100-50 in 6 quarters. Keep an eye out on Southern in that tournament division

The Peake will scrimmage at Chillicothe this evening. They scrimmaged Portsmouth West on Sat and won 5 of 6 varsity, overall won by around 18 to 20.
JV went 1 of 3 but overall about even.

The Peake and Chillicothe had a great scrimmage tonight at Chillicothe. Two good teams that really tested each other. They played 15 minute running quarters.
Chillicothe won the first by 5 and The Peake won the other three by 2, 6, and 9 points.

81-70 peake. Fairly well played early contest.

Yes very good scrimmage. The Peake will go deep in tourney. They have several pieces. Chilly looked off a little tonight but like the direction they are heading.Rza1 wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 10:24 pmpeake71 wrote: Mon Nov 24, 2025 10:04 pm The Peake and Chillicothe had a great scrimmage tonight at Chillicothe. Re: Southeast Boys BB scrimmages…
Brief and not much detail or napkin stats, but watched the South Point / Russell, KY / Jackson scrimmage last Saturday.
South Point seems down a little, but have some quick players, and when they were giving it 100% could cause some havoc on the defensive end. They were very "handsy", and good at it... created many turnovers.
Russell, KY was solid. Had some very strong players. #0 was very quick, excellent spin move, enjoyed contact (which is saying something against some of the Jackson players). #2 handled the ball very well, liked to draw contact in the lane, initiates that contact well. #4 was an excellent shooter, and seems young! Excellent ball handling, and he seems to like to talk trash a little bit lol. That might serve him well against some teams, but might not help against extremely veteran teams that enjoy that fuel for the fire. #32 was absolutely a difference maker. Physical, finished very well around the rim, and was pretty big. He stepped on a foot and rolled his ankle pretty bad late in the scrimmage, praying he's fine!
Their roll players were good, and they rotated 8-9 deep without much trouble.
Jackson couldn't throw it in the ocean, but got to the lane very well, and created good open looks.
They handled the pressure/traps/extended zones much better than past years... so that might cause some issues for those trapping teams.
Big difference I saw in this scrimmage is there are a couple of players that can create extremely well off the dribble. Jackson historically hasn't allowed that, but if that is something that's permitted this year, they could be a much higher scoring team, and very challenging to defend 1-on-1.
