2025-2026 Girls SEO Basketball

Post by Eugene 2011 »

Tonight the lady Jeeps faced South Gallia the Jeeps ended up winning by 10+. The Claxon girls had a combined 31, which was impressive considering one is a Freshman. The Jeeps have 5 freshman all who get much playing time. Which is good considering they will all improve and has 4 years to do. In the first quarter the Jeeps got up to a 4 point lead and were up 2-4 going into the second half. However after the second half the Jeeps opened the flood gates getting many steals and barely missing a shot. The Jeeps ended up winning by a big amount with an impressive win. But, the Jeeps got into some early foul trouble with several players having 2-3 fouls. As the Jeeps work on this I think they will be a good team and will be very competitive in the SOC. I was also expecting South Gallia to have more competition, but I also believe they lost several players last year, not to sure on that. Congrats and good luck to the Jeeps this year.

There are several good girls teams around this area Portsmouth with Allen, Green with Knapp, and Notre Dame and Fairland just don’t know as much about them. Good luck to all the teams this year.

Outside of the mentioned Portsmouth, Fairland and Green, there are several other teams that are solid to pretty good in the area, just the low level teams are significantly worse than they have been in the past, which does make for some incredibly lopsided games.

In Scioto County, Wheelersburg and West are both pretty good with a lot of young kids and not many seniors, so they'll just get better as at least Burg has a good coach, West has a new coach but I like what I've seen out of them so far.

North Adams is set up to be solid to really good over the next few years as their freshman guard is outstanding. Fayetteville has a really nice group in the SHAC for the next couple of years.

Unioto is very strong, especially with their top 3 players including Smith who is signed to play at Dayton.

Circleville will win a ton of games this season and have a chance to win a district title in D4.

Alexander, Federal Hocking, Belpre are all strong in the TVC, Athens should be solid to good and then Waterford is coming off of their third state championship in recent years.

If the new coaching staff at Fort Frye is any good at all, they'll have an excellent chance of reaching the Final Four again and maybe further.

Logan Elm, McClain, Hillsboro, Eastern Brown, Lynchburg-Clay, Piketon are all solid to good.

There's 20 teams that I would say are at least decent to good. I could probably list 40 that are pretty bad, but I'd say that that is probably close to the same for the boys side currently as well. And then there are 10-12 that are likely in the middle of that that I don't really have a feel for, like a South Webster or Notre Dame for instance.

Yes these games always seem to have different takes from people. I work with some PV guys and I can remember how upset they were last year when Unioto girls beat them really bad and felt it was a bit much.

Yes, 81-32 is very similar to 96-4.

The thing for me is how much the PV bench scored in this game. It was well over half of the point coming from the freshmen and sophomores and all of the players in the game scored as well. It’s a tough situation for all involved. It definitely seems like too much, but as long as they weren’t pressing and played all 12 kids.

Lol nothing close to those scores! It’s a bad situation for all involved. I know there is a running clock but can quarters be shortened?

It's not difficult to keep things respectful. This probably says more about the PV coach than the Western team. JMO

This is becoming more and more of an issue. Instead of trying to decrease kids from trying when they are better maybe we should look harder at the games being scheduled. Other than Fairland who is going to challenge Portsmouth in the OVC? That means 12 games will prob end something out of line….Ironton football left the OvC because of such issues. There is no great answer but do they need play each Conferemce team twice? Are all conferences this way (play each team twice)? Really the adults involved have to know more about the teams being scheduled. Just because it’s always been that way isn’t a good reason and leads to things getting worse. I’m not pointing any fingers but don’t turn all our sports into a participation trophy leagues…..

From what I have heard, that was keeping it respectful...which I know sounds unbelievable. It could have been worse than that though, as Western is in a tough tough spot right now. I heard the JV players played the most minutes by a long shot and they were having to make multiple passes (5+) before only being allowed to take wide wide open shots. They pressed the first two minutes of the game but did not press after that.

ND's coach resigned and barely had anyone out for them from what I heard. Laney Strickland transferred to Green.

Also with Green coming up I won’t be surprised if they lose by 100+. Especially with the Strickland girl at Green supposedly. I’ll agree I don’t think I’ve seen something like this before.

Notre Dame is not bad. They have low numbers but they play hard and the Bryant girl is a player.

No they are not bad, should finish 4th, maybe 3rd in the SOC 1 this season. They are not like they once were and not a top half team overall in SEO girls basketball.

Yeah, I should have probably clarified that, I never meant it like they were bad. I was just saying what I knew about them. I agree, though, they should finish possibly 3rd. I like the Portsmouth Clay girls this year, I think they will be 2nd and obviously Green 1st.
