Battle in the 740
Re: Battle in the 740
Not sure who runs this tournament but everyone in the stands is saying they wont be back.
They are not saying the Fairland Chillicothe game won't happen that makes 4 games thats been wiped and they are still charging 15.00 to get in which is ridiculous from the start.
How's a family with 2 or 3 kids supposed to afford this ?

Yeah you make a good point, they need to do something about that.biggdowgg wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 1:33 pm Not sure who runs this tournament but everyone in the stands is saying they wont be back.

They'll be back next year when the full slate of games gets played with no snow falling. I agree, they should have maybe reduced the admission price to $10 but twelve months from now, most people won't care about it.biggdowgg wrote: Sat Dec 13, 2025 1:33 pm Not sure who runs this tournament but everyone in the stands is saying they wont be back.

They could charge 7 or 8 bucks just like a regular season game and make way more money, but yes even 10.00.
90 percent of the people only go to watch their team and leave anyway. These people that run these tournaments thinks everyone is going to hang around all day.
So many people paid 30.00 " per couple:parents " to watch their spn play one game!
15.00 for one person like me is high enough but you start doubling up it gets crazy fast . He'll it was 13.00 for students lol.
Like you said most people wont remember next you, but I know one person who will not be back lol.
I hope portsmouth stays away from these tournaments myself
Re: Battle in the 740
Hillsboro has canceled for tomorrow at Shawnee State. I am assuming Huntington has done the same. It is now stated on Portsmouth West Facebook page that the boys will now face Rock Hill (instead of Hillsboro) and tip will be at 1:30. As of now, I assume the Unioto vs Wheelersburg game is still on as scheduled along with the two girls games and the last game of the day between Licking Heights and Ashland Blazer

CONFIRMED: All of the games are canceled for Sunday for the Battle in the 740.
Re: Battle in the 740
Unfortunate but mother nature to this day remains undefeated and a fixture at #1 on PFloyd's Elite Eight list.(Although Miami Trace would give ol mother nature a run for her money this season lol)KeyserSoze_Deux wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 1:38 am CONFIRMED: All of the games are canceled for Sunday for the Battle in the 740.
Hopefully all the schools that were forced to cancel this weekend can find ways to make up for the lost game in their respective schedules at some point. Wheelersburg still waiting to play its first game of the season! I selfishly would like to see Wheelersburg play Unioto and Fairland play Chillicothe if it can be arranged. Huntington off to a good start in the SVC. Eager to get eyes on them for the first time in the regular season as well. We will see if any of the games scheduled for Monday are able to be played. Depends how well the hard working men and women in the plow trucks are able to get the roads safe to drive on. I am sure they will be hard at it all day and night worrking 12+ hr shifts. Not an easy task with this much snow and near-zero temps. With there being a blanket of snow outside coupled with single-digit temps, it's a great day to keep the sweatpants on and hunker down and watch the brave (or stupid...probably stupid) people get frostbite at the NFL games this afternoon. Everyone keep warm, stay safe, and check on any elderly relatives or neighbors. This white crap should start melting by Tuesday afternoon, so we all should (hopefully) be watching some great high school hoops action real soon!
Re: Battle in the 740
... too bad I have no pull at any gyms/schools OR it would be a great night of hoops with the double header of Unioto vs Wheelersburg capped off by Chillicothe vs Fairland ... a mid distance for all school - Jackson as an example/or Wellston - pick up this game bill - Jackson charges for parking so that would be even better for them, keep the concession proceeds & parking ... charge $7 for seeing both games or one ... I'd put my name on this night of hoops ! Wednesday night game ... I'm liking the idea !!! LOL but that's just me ... I hate seeing these matchups not happen due to the weather of this past weekend ...
Re: Battle in the 740
Wasn't happy with the outcome of games being canceled, but seeing my trojans pick up a good cc win against a quality team helps a lot , im exited to see how this trojans team develops throughout the year , played 3 freshman yesterday and they will definitely be a big part of this team this season.
Congratulations on woods for hitting the 30 point mark and making to on trojandaves 30 point and over club.
The Reid ? kid #32 for Racine is a stud!!

Your Trojans looked good yesterday biggdowg! Good mix of youngsters & upper classmen … sticky D … quickness all over the court … #32 for Southern is Reed Brinager … only a junior … transferred from Meigs … played for that Meigs lineup last season that had himself at 6-5, Carson Davis 6-8, 6-5, and 6-6 off the bench … Brinager is a good one …

Re: Battle in the 740
The Eventive Staff that powers the Battle Series has secured Shawnee State University on January 24 and January 25 so each team that was unable to play this past weekend in the Battle in the 740 can hopefully play at SSU and not lose a game on their schedule and play at Shawnee State University. We also will assist the others schools that cannot play that weekend in securing a game. We have been in contact with the vast majority of schools and comfortable that the majority want to play in the event at a College facility and on a collegiate floor as all Battle Series events are. We will keep those interested posted. Please note that each and every school involved made their own decision whether or not they could play with the safety of the players the primarily factor.

Pfloyd
Thanks , I was told his name was Reed, was not sure that was his first name, he is a beast though .
Just to be clear , we played 3 freshman at different times we did not start 3 freshman , Pfloyd I know you know but just putting it out for others that didn't see the game.
I do think at least one of these freshman maybe 2 will be starting before season is over but I was happy with what our starting lineup gave us last night .
And this was without " arguably" one of our top 2 starters in Logan Adkins who will.miss maybe 2 more games

Count me in! Jackson or Wellston would be the perfect neutral site for that. Both outstanding venues and roughly equal distance from all 4 of those schools. Could even make it a triple-header with Rock Hill vs Huntington to kick things off..pfloyd wrote: Sun Dec 14, 2025 11:38 am ... too bad I have no pull at any gyms/schools OR it would be a great night of hoops with the double header of Unioto vs Wheelersburg capped off by Chillicothe vs Fairland ... a mid distance for all school - Jackson as an example/or Wellston - pick up this game bill - Jackson charges for parking so that would be even better for them, keep the concession proceeds & parking ... charge $7 for seeing both games or one ... He messed up though... moving down in competition to southern... and also in the.amount of eyes that would have been on him and davis... no inside knowledge of the situation..Just my two cents.. seems like a step down... he had a great year last season..
