So you are saying they made a mistake by hiring one of the best coaches in SEO. First year Coach Davis is there they win their side of the TVC for the first time. If they hired Howie they have no Carson Davis. Davis will play division 1 basketball somewhere. Also you lose majority of your scoring. My understanding is the young man went back to Southern where he was from originally from but not his choice.

Who do you think is responsible for his return to Racine? And yea League titles are nice but nothings like deep tournament runs. That’s what makes Howie so special.

I’ve seen some of the grittiest basketball throughout this season from teams throughout Southern/Southeastern Ohio. Not necessarily saying it’s the most skilled or talented. But, there are some tough nosed teams a crossed the board. A lot of parity throughout the area this year.

They have another nice freshman big on the JV squad to toss in next year as he continues to develop alongside of Miller

GA should be one of the better teams in the area at least the next 2 seasons, if they can stay healthy of course.

Check Ryan Davis record and you see why I consider him a top coach in SEO. State final four, regional finals, regional semis and district championships plus conference championships. Several all state players first and second team plus honorable mention. And yes I am a little biased.
Some of the ones who played for him are now coaches.

If a coach takes a group of average players (expected to be about .500) and they go 17-5, was that great coaching? Or another coach who has a very talented, experienced team that is very good (expected to win all or most of their games) and they go 19-3. Or still another coach that inherits a losing program and develops his first team (young, inexperienced) into a .500 season. Which is the better coach? Just as in being a teacher, too much I believe is placed on the final achievement, and not the value-added aspect of improvement and growth. For example, taking a below-average student and motivating them toward becoming a 3.0 student is a greater achievement than taking a 3.7 student and ending up at 3.8. Just some additional perspective for consideration.
P.S. I don't know Coach Davis history as you do, so maybe he developed those players into much better players and should be credited for the "value-added" he provided. Can't argue against that. But I know some coaches in the area with big winning percentages who really haven't done much to improve players or teams but they are regarded as successful because they are in the right school at the right time or simply have better players.

The one thing I have said for years is if you have a mediocre coach and good players they will play down to the coach and a good coach that has mediocre players they will play up to the coach. That also depends on motivation also.
I saw Davis take guys and make them better players and not necessarily in wins but did you improve from beginning to the end. A good coach to me wants them to improve not just on the court but in the classroom and beyond.
His coaching at Meigs i know some about being friends with Ryan also. When he came they never had been to summer basketball camps. They played in a summer league at Jackson is all I believe. He took them to camp and also brought them to Marshall camps to try and improve.
There are some great coaches in SEO and I just believe he is one of them.

As a Waverly guy, probably more than 10, I’m hearing keesee will be out and Teagan hurt is out for the season, will drop a few until keesee is back especially with hurt out, hopefully we compete will and can build some depth in this injury ridden time.

So you think Meigs is about a 10-point favorite against Waverly and even-odds vs. Marietta? I've seen all three of these teams and each game has its own separate factors. But I'd say the toss-up game is Waverly (slight edge to the Tigers) and if both teams play to capabilities with no injuries or sicknesses to deal with, I'd say Marietta by 12 over Meigs.
