Looking at its remaining schedule, Meigs has a fair chance to win nine in a row beginning Tuesday night and all the way into the second week of February. No guarantees but if they regroup they can finish 17-5 or so.

SHOULD win every remaining game with the exception of the Jackson game. Fairfield Union will be a battle but I like the Marauders at home in that one...

Carson Davis got totally shut down by a point guard, Trey Hawkins. That kid played his tail off for 4 quarters. Davis spent pretty much the entire night on the perimeter which is a waste of his size and ability. It was worse when Meigs played Warren at home. The Warriors had no answer for him on the rare occasion he actually went into the post. Until mid 4th quarter vs the Tigers, Davis had a woeful 2 points. But he was kept in the game to get some trash buckets and once he reached double figures, he finally exited the game. Coach is sacrificing the potential of the team to enhance the statistics of one player. Poor refereeing is beyond laughable. The Tigers simply wanted this game and went out and flat took it from the opening tip to the final buzzer. A 38 point win isn’t just one team having an off night. This was the most impressive performance for a Tiger team in Gardner’s tenure in my opinion from top to bottom. Stupendous night for the Tigers. Poorly prioritized daddy ball by Meigs.

I can tell you that Vinton County employed the same strategies. Threw bodies at Davis, and wore him down. He did however, finished with 24, with 6 threes, the 5 threes in the second half and three threes late were, what I would say not good looks, but rather contested and deep, but give the kid credit, he hit them. Vinton County had them down 8-10 most of the night, but late, it was Davis that was bringing them back, to lose by 3. He was so physically exhausted (he was never substituted out) that he airballed a free-throw late.

I was at Meigs vs Vinton County and they did wear Carson down. They also were holding and pulling his jersey coming up the court, no calls.
They were down the kid from Oak Hill who didnt play and their point guard fouled out late in the 4th. Not much experience coming off the bench.
The one kid from Vinton hit a bunch of 3's not sure of his final point total but I thought he had at least 28.

The only challenge for other teams is that Marietta has a 6-3 defensive point guard specialist who can shut Davis down 1 on 1, which he did. This allowed the Tigers to focus on another Meigs shooter and scorer (Beucler) who took three or four shots all game and had 2 points. Meigs will get back in the win column most of the rest of the season, but so far not the year Meigs expected.
