Wellston tipped it off having not won at Vinton County in the last 25 years, since 2001 ... a win would move the Rockets to 9-2 and remain in a tie for first place in the TVC Ohio @ 4-1 with the Meigs Marauders ... this one played out as expected- a very physical contest where 2 Vikings fouled out in the final minutes of the game - Yates/Thacker ... the officials let them play as both teams saw key players on the bench throughout with foul trouble ... VC took the opening quarter lead as Noah Yates and Jase Moore each drained a trey 6pts/ Josh Montgomery collected an old fashion three with a score & 1 in the paint 3pts/ Brody Maynard entered off the bench to get his first fg of the night on a score on the blocks 2pts ... Wellston struggled to get the offense started as the only points they could get were from long range with Justin Jackson & Owen Kilgour each hitting from behind the 3 point line ... the Rockets big man in the paint 6-6 Wes Briggs was held to 1/2 from the FT line in the opening 8 minutes ... Vinton County 12 Wellston 7 after one ... the Rockets got going offensively in the 2nd as they put up 18 points hitting from all 3 levels ... 5-5 soph Braxton Ingalls led the way with 8 pts in the period, the soph drove the lane for 2pts before draining a pair of back to back 3 pointers/8 pts ...
