... in a game where South Webster knocked down 13 fgs for the game , anyone not named "Barnard" hit 1 fg for the 32 minutes for SW ... sr. Hunter Barnard carried , carried is putting it mildly, the Jeeps- 6-1 Barnard "the elder " tallied 13 of the SW 16 pts in the first 2 quarters with the only other points a trey by Caden Johnson in the 2nd period ... for the West Siders, Will Kegley who was averaging 23 ppg entering the contest led the scoring thru 2 qtrs with 8 pts/ Braxton Kammer off the PW bench added 6 pts ... West 24 South Webster 16 at intermission ... coming out of the locker room West was unable to find the bottom of the net as SW held the Senators to 5 pts in the 3rd (a trey by Owen Richards, and a putback bucket from Logan McIntire 2pts) ... for the Jeeps, Hunter Barnard continued to be key as the sr. drained a trey 3pts and scored in transition 2pts ... Barnard "the Younger" - Brayden - kept the scoring for SW in the family as the 6-1 sophomore kicked in 4pts on a strip steal and score 2pts & a drive and finish at the rim 2pts ... the Jeeps closed the gap, made it a game after 3 ... West 29 South Webster 25 ... apparently the West Siders owed made baskets to the bank as they cashed in on only 2 fgs in the 3rd and but 3 fgs in the final 8 minutes ... Will Kegley with 4pts on a transition bucket 2pts and drive & finish at the rim 2pts, the final fg of the game was a too little too late 3 pter by Logan McIntire as time expired ... a 7 pt qtr in the 4th to give PWHS but 12 pts in the final 16 minutes of play ... the Jeeps continued to be carried by Hunter Barnard who added 7 pts to give him a game leading 25 pts ... every other point in the quarter came from the charity stripe as SW went 9/16 from the line with Brycin McClintic going 6/8, Brayden Barnard 2/4 and Easton Large/Caden Johnson each 1/2 from the FT line ... South Webster 41 Portsmouth West 36 a final ...

... Congratulations to South Webster Head Coach Norm Persin, "the legend"! Coach Persin with the W moved into a tie for 2nd place in All Time coaching wins in the state of Ohio matching fellow legendary coach, Coach Joe Petrocelli of Kettering Alter, with 831 wins, Norm's next win will move him to sole second place behind Coach Richard Kortokrax of Kalida (890) ... Congratulations to the "legend" Coach Persin ! -pfloyd
