Saturday’s game vs Mount Notre Dame has been postponed until February 12th due to the impending weather for Saturday.

Coach Amy Hughes will be a call-in guest on Sunday’s SOSA Coaches Call In Show. She’ll be on around 7:30 Sunday evening.

Dave
I came here to tell you same thing about Mt Notre dame.

Amy text saying Notre dame president would not let them travel due to incoming weather.

Im thinking the 740 shoot out at SSU will probably cancel to

Way to get back on the winning track Trojans. Nothing like a solid road win in the conference. State title bound!!! Glad to see everybody played hard and were committed to each other.

Glad to see the Lady Trojans put the Fairland game behind them with a win on the road at Gallia Academy. From what I gathered, the girls off the bench all played well. That's important as the season progresses.

Don't have the official score, but I believe it was something like 55-25.

The Lady Trojans face a stern test on Tuesday as the undefeated Ashland Lady Tomcats (#3 in Kentucky) come to Trojan Arena. Should be a big crowd for this one. PHS swept the Lady Tomcats last season. Game time is 7 PM, but there will be a PJHS game prior to the varsity contest, which will start around 6 PM.

The Portsmouth Lady Trojans achieved a big win last night, as they defeated the #3 team in Kentucky, the Ashland Kittens 46-32 @PHS. The Lady Trojans were behind 15-12 at the half, as both teams struggled to put the ball in the basket. After halftime, PHS warmed up from the field and scored 34 points, outscoring Ashland 34-17. After just 5 seconds into the game, one could tell that the Lady Trojans were showing more energy and intensity than they had in some previous games. They know what it takes to get up for the big games on their schedule. As usual, the Lady Trojans' defense played at championship level. Credit to Coaches Amy and Mike Hughes for getting them ready to play a very good Ashland team.

The win was Portsmouth's 3rd straight over Ashland the last 2 seasons. The Lady Trojans swept the Kittens last year.

Sienna Allen came up big for the Lady Trojans, as she scored 22 points. PHS is now 8-2 on the season. The Junior High Lady Trojans defeated Ironton and to date have lost only 1 game, that to Gallia Academy.

That was a huge win against Ashland! Could not be more proud of these Lady Trojans!

Thank you for the info on Junior High, trojandave. Admittedly, that is something I don't follow but should!

What was very encouraging about the Chesapeake win was that Sienna Allen hit 5 three pointers. Very important for Sienna to be able to knock down the trifecta as the Lady Trojans go forward in their quest for the OVC title and a return trip back to the Final 4. Being able to expand her scoring zone outside the arc makes her much more versatile offensively, because she is very adept at driving to the basket for buckets.

Last night the Junior High Lady Trojans defeated Fairland by about 25 points. To date, the JH Lady Trojans have lost only 1 game, that to Gallia Academy.

Did a deep dive into the offensive and defensive numbers from this season's team and last year's State Champion Lady Trojans. Surprising is that this year's Lady Trojans are averaging more PPG and allowing fewer PPG than last year's team. Here are the numbers:

2025-26: through 11 games: Offensive PPG: 59.9......Defensive PPG: 27.8
2024-25: 22 games out of 28 games: Offensive PPG: 55.4.....Defensive PPG: 33.5

Although the 2024-25 season numbers don't include all 28 games......I don't have the other 6 games scores, but even at that it is interesting that despite the loss of 1,000 point scorer Daysha Reid from last year's team, the Lady Trojans of this season are scoring more points per game and allowing less than the State Champions. Of course with only an 11 game sample those numbers might change somewhat.

I believe for Portsmouth to repeat they have to knock down there open shots from outside and shoot foul shots with more confidence! Example is the Fairland game, Fairland was more consistent hitting open shots when they had them . Portsmouth has to drain those open shots. Although Portsmouth probably would have won that Fairland game if they made there foul shots and still missing all those open shots! now is the time for there shooters to start being more consistent and mind set that every shot counts! Defense is top notch. coaching top notch hustle is smothering, There is a ton of big games coming up to get ready for tourney! Because someone else has to step up and help Sienna score in clutch games! Good Luck Lady's! Every possession is crucial ! TrojanDave I believe these Trojans has what it takes but it's going to take all 8 players stepping up in crunch time!

Fairland will definitely be tough, especially with the remaining game against Fairland being at Fairland, a hostile crowd can always affect a team's play. I do agree with your statement though, they definitely have what it takes.
