Hey kids…no dunking in pregame with refs in gym
Hey kids…no dunking in pregame with refs in gym
Burg did it at Jackson late in warm ups and it was rightfully called. I just tuned into goodguys tv and Georgetown did it against Whiteoak
It was the same officiating crew but that’s moot. It’s two free throws and the ball for the other team to start the game.
While I think the rule is a bit unnecessary it’s also crazy to just give the other team an uncontested start and then the possession.

Funnily enough, Southern did it against Trimble on the same day.
There's nothing better than Friday nights and Gridiron Glory.

I believe this also happened in the Portsmouth Ironton game. End up being a 1 point game

Burg coach held his player out 4 min to start the game…I approve of that

Don’t like the rule…but, it’s been a rule forever.
Not that hard to follow.

Re: Hey kids…no dunking in pregame with refs in gym
Chillicothe was putting on a pregame dunking show in their early layup line but stopped well before refs appeared.
Re: Hey kids…no dunking in pregame with refs in gym
I was at the Chillicothe game at Unioto a couple weeks back and the Chilli players were doing the same thing then. Looked like a dunking contest amongst themselves for the first minute or so of warmups. I was thinking, they better stop that before the officials come out and witness it. I am personally indifferent about the rule. I sort of understand the reasoning behind it, but if it were to be abolished eventually, it also wouldn't matter to me. The rule has been in place for many years so whether you like it or not, you have to abide by it. To selfishly put your team in a tough spot before the game even begins, isn't a wise move. Dunk all you want during the game (if able to) or during open gyms/after practice.Ironman92 wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 4:04 pm Chillicothe was putting on a pregame dunking show in their early layup line but stopped well before refs appeared.

Rather silly rule. Equally as silly to break it though since it's been a rule forever.

Burg player is a great kid, and young (freshman). Guarantee he won’t make that same mistake again!*Ironman92 wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 3:56 pm Burg coach held his player out 4 min to start the game…I approve of that

A few years ago, took the family as Sierra Canyon came to Nationwide Arena to play ASVSM. Yes, Lebron was in attendance. A California school against an Ohio school. Guess who was dunking during pre-game warm-ups? The officials came out and told them to stop, that it was not allowed in Ohio. No technical.

No. This was December 14th, 2019, when Bronny Jr. played at Sierra Canyon and he played against Dad's alma mater at Nationwide. Lebron was in town to see his kids play and saw some of his old friends, the Joyces. SC won by 3.Ironman92 wrote: Mon Jan 19, 2026 11:25 amFew? No. I did not see him at Wellston. I saw him only at the state championships in the early 2000s.

Not moot.. that it was the same crew... those guys are trying to catch em... they gotta show everyone who's the boss.... lol. Most logical refs who don't wanna be part of the show mosey on out... let someone know they're comihg.. and teams knock it off.. not these guys. Lol. Come out and stand guard when the teams come out... thatd fix it... they'll keeo trying to get em... lol.Ironman92 wrote: Sat Jan 17, 2026 3:11 pm Burg did it at Jackson late in warm ups and it was rightfully called. What's the purpose of the rule? Is it connected to when hoops were more fragile?

You should have said "Hi." I thought I saw you at the Vinton County/Jackson's girl game.
Re: Hey kids…no dunking in pregame with refs in gym
I noticed you there as I walked by and on way back you were in conversation with someone and I didn’t think that was the best place to complain to you about the flag being too small for your gym. Haha
