Toughest team in southeast Ohio
Unioto has to one of the top teams if not thy top team. Athens might up there. I’d say Sheridan any others?

Fairland. They have a couple of super talented kids and then there is little drop off all the way down to their 8th kid in the rotation.
Unioto has the best player, maybe the best duo/trio as well...but, past that is pretty rough, as evident by the two losses. One coming with Smith being hurt and the other coming as Smith was swarmed defensively and others had to make plays.
Portsmouth is also good, but lack of depth hurts them as well.

I would agree on Fairland for all of the reasons above. I think Logan Elm can be trouble at times but I couldn't pick them in a one game series against Fairland. Same with McClain. I have liked Unioto over the past few years but I did overlook the depth issue this year for them. I would be surprised, though, if they don't win the Southeast District.

The Portsmouth Lady Trojans are 13-2, with only a 2 point loss to Olentangy the 1st game of the season, and a 5 point loss to Fairland. To date having only 8 girls on the roster has not hurt PHS, and currently they have a 9 game winning streak. They've beaten Reynoldsburg, Granville, Cincinnati Sycamore, and Ashland KY. Supposed to play Cincinnati Mt.Notre Dame on Saturday, but it looks like the weather will cancel that. Next Thursday the Lady Trojans travel to Fairland which will decide how the OVC will shake out. What may be surprising to some is that this team is averaging more PPG than last year's team, and is giving up fewer PPG.
The way they've been playing of late, they will be a very tough out in the tournament, and they are the defending D5 State Champions.

I think Fairland and Portsmouth are 1a and 1b in whichever way you want to put them. Both are very good and, in my opinion, head and shoulders above the other teams in SEO this year. Last year there seemed to be more of those top level teams but this year we have two top notch teams and then a drop off to the next level. Should be a great game next week and probably just game two of three for the year. Best of luck to both teams.
