these polls are only good for banter like this after they come out. they really mean nothing b/c 90 percent of the voters are only really knowledgeable about schools within an hour or two from them. who cares, it will all work itself out in feb-march

They may not mean anything, but it would still be cool if Chilli finished the season #1 - would mean last two years the final D2 AP Poll champion would come from this area. SE basketball getting some respect.

no what would be cool is if the SEOAL had 2 state champs in diff divs. what is cool about everyone thinking you're the best team if in the end you dont prove to be just that?

Polls are more of a reflection on who had the best season beginning to end. Tournaments are a reflection of who is the hot or lucky team at one particular point. Villanova and NC State proved years ago that the best team does not always win a tourney - the hot/lucky team does. That is why a playoff in college football will not crown the best team in football - a team that gets hot or lucky in playoff can roll through it. For an example - see Pittsburgh Steelers a couple of years ago - they entered as a wild card and ended up winning the SuperBowl. I am a huge Steeler fan and even I admit the Steelers were not the best team in the NFL that year - heck, they were not the best team in their division.
