I'll go with our coaching and they will make sure that any smacks in the mouth will be responded to with a flurry of points at Caldwell.selonmc wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 8:56 pm Fiesty game. Caldwell came for blood. If we play like that @ Caldwell I look for them to knock us off.
Settled for way too many 3’s in my opinion.

Re: Monroe Central 25-26
We must have two different opinions on basketball, This game was 42-41 late third, two crucial calls go against Caldwell (awful charge call under the rim and no call on a drive that was blatant) credit central they hit two huge threes off that that gave them just enough separation. Farnsworth took the Caldwell bigs out of the game, tremendous player even without scoring a lot. Silva slowed Schott down just enough in the 4th to get it done. These teams were very competitive and are both very good basketball teams. Monroe is a tough place to play, they are much better there than on the road. I’m sure it will be a great game round two, MC shot it very well from three tonight. Howell had a really nice game.SouthEast Hoops Fan wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 9:22 pmAgree, Caldwell just not very good for a team with that kind of record.
Re: Monroe Central 25-26
Monroe Central never trailed in the game but also never was able to put away Caldwell. Thought the difference in the game was turnovers. Caldwell committed a bunch of them and didn't handle the MC pressure defense very well. When they didn't turn it over the Schott kid kept them in the game by himself. I had him unofficially with about 34 of Caldwell's 52 points.
Monroe Central was led by Cooper Howell with 24, with Silva and Yontz chipping in 13 and 11 respectively. MC shot the ball horribly from the line tonight which keep the game a bit closer than it needed to be. Corbin Farnsworth has been in a shooting slump the last couple games and we need him to start playing like himself again on the offensive end for this team to take the next step up.
I expect the rematch in Caldwell is going to a barnburner!

I was so impressed by how big an impact Farnsworth made without scoring much. He is a man. Howell is just a good all around player and Silva is the glue. Unless i’m wrong until the JV played the last 30 seconds for both squads MC only played one guy off the bench and it was for a very short stint. True iron man basketball. Yontz making four threes and the one that #3 made were big.
Re: Monroe Central 25-26
Agree both teams are good but MC didn’t win on bad officiating. 2 calls didn’t decide the game. Would’ve been nice to get a walk called on Schott more than there was.redskinwitness wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 10:25 pmWe must have two different opinions on basketball, This game was 42-41 late third, two crucial calls go against Caldwell (awful charge call under the rim and no call on a drive that was blatant) credit central they hit two huge threes off that that gave them just enough separation. But both teams are legit in the East. Hiland will have something to say about that as well. This could be the first of 3 meetings between these two.
Re: Monroe Central 25-26
You are correct. Henderson was the only reserve to get any real playing time. Depth is definitely a weakness of this years team as compared to last year. MC seems to get about 85% of their points from 4 players (one of the starters doesn't score very often).redskinwitness wrote: Tue Jan 13, 2026 11:01 pm I was so impressed by how big an impact Farnsworth made without scoring much. Looked at OHSAA site for those RPI ratings this AM to see who'll be #1 seed come tournament time. It's tight but Caldwell on top.
Hiland, MC and Toronto are right there within percentage points.
Trail and Bridgeport have good records. Out of 9 teams in district only Newcomerstown, Crooksville & Shenandoah are sub. 500.
Of course this changes daily

Hiland, MC, Caldwell, Trail, Toronto all very good. Bridgeport isn’t disciplined enough to beat any of those 5. Bottom 2 are bad, Newcomerstown has been competitive but have some awful losses. Looks like Caldwell and Trail play this Saturday, MC has another game with Caldwell and at least one more with Wheeling CC. Hiland plays a few more big ones. Toronto’s remaining schedule is atrocious, they’ll end up highly seeded.MetalheadGamer87 wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 10:46 am Looked at OHSAA site for those RPI ratings this AM to see who'll be #1 seed come tournament time. No! They are really bad this year.selonmc wrote: Wed Jan 14, 2026 9:55 pm Looks like Shenandoah is up next. Any chance for a Zep upset?
Re: Monroe Central 25-26
Can MC or Caldwell beat Hiland? That Hiland defense looks as tough as ever. Are Toronto and Trail threats or just good records?
Re: Monroe Central 25-26
Just my opinion, but MC has a better chance than Caldwell. That doesn’t mean Caldwell is bad or anything. But Hiland will lock down Schott better than MC did. We let him go for over 30 on us. Hiland won’t allow that. So it becomes who will step up to fill in the scoring?jimmyv wrote: Thu Jan 15, 2026 10:38 am Can MC or Caldwell beat Hiland? That Hiland defense looks as tough as ever. MC will have to play their A+ game against Hiland. But they have 3 or 4 guys that can step up if Hiland tries to take a guy away .
I know only through the teams they’ve played about Toronto and Trail. Don’t know much about them

Re: Monroe Central 25-26
Caldwell always plays Hiland really tough….and still loses lol. They’ve always seemed to play zone or last year a triangle and 2 and get them out of rhythm. I agree that MC has more weapons. I’d love to say both could beat them but I don’t know if either one can this year. as far as Toronto and Trail i’m not sure, Caldwell was supposed to play them this weekend but with the tragedy involving a players sibling the other night i haven’t seen any makeup date announced.selonmc wrote: Thu Jan 15, 2026 8:47 pmJust my opinion, but MC has a better chance than Caldwell. Re: Monroe Central 25-26
In my opinion, Hiland is a clear step above everyone else in this district and certainly the favorite. I think the only team "capable" of beating Hiland is Monroe Central.jimmyv wrote: Thu Jan 15, 2026 10:38 am Can MC or Caldwell beat Hiland? That Hiland defense looks as tough as ever. I have only seen Toronto once but they are pretty good. I would put them and Caldwell on even footing and both capable of upsetting MC in the district on the right night. Buckeye Trail and Bridgeport are the 4th and 5th best teams, but I don't see either one beating either Hiland or Monroe Central.
Re: Monroe Central 25-26
Shout out to the Lady Noles for beating Wheeling Park by 4 today. They’re having a great season too
Re: Monroe Central 25-26
Monroe Central - 78
Shenandoah - 13
This game got ugly early as Monroe Central came out shooting lights out early in the game enroute to a 26-5 lead at the end of Q1. Also outscored the Zeps 26-5 in the 2nd quarter. The second half was a running clock with the reserves playing most of the minutes.
The Seminoles were led in scoring by Cooper Howell with 21 points, 19 of them coming in the first half. Blake Yontz had 16 and Hunter Habig added 12 off the bench. Corbin Farnsworth added 10 and he and Cooper dominated the boards most of the night.

Yeah that was a sad game. What did they score? 3 total points in the 2nd half? I like Hunter Habig. Nice looking freshman basketball player along with classmate Jett Kaiser.
